About This Job

Job Description:  Provide excellent service to hotel guest rooms in a devoted and efficient manner.  Responsible for stocking housekeeping supplies for the various housekeeping functions in the hotel, clean and maintain the guest hallways and other hotel areas as assigned. Work Environment: 
  • Interior and exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking:  Frequently.  Walking up to two miles per day on cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet.
  • Crouching (Bend at knees):  Frequently.  Bending to vacuum and perform stocking and cleaning duties.
  • Stooping (Bend at waist):  Frequently. Stooping to vacuum and perform cleaning duties
  • Twisting (Knees/waist/Neck):  Loading and unloading linen.
  • Climbing:  Occasionally.  Climbing to the top shelves in linen rooms. 
  • Reaching (Overhead/extension):  Frequently.  To perform stocking and cleaning duties
  • Handling/Grasping:  Frequently.  Handling linen, trash, glassware, amenities, and guest cleaning supplies.  
  • Pushing/Pulling:  Frequently.  Maximum weight frequently 150 lbs.- 200 lbs.
  • Lifting/Carrying:  Frequently.  Average weight frequently 20 lbs.  Maximum weight frequently 50 lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivers all items requested by guests to their guestroom (e.g. extra towels, amenities, dry-cleaning)
  • Ensuring to restock storages with amenities/linen/clean glassware/in room guest supplies/etc.
  • Ensure to keep storages clean and organized
  • Immediately responds to any potentially dangerous conditions such as wet floors
  • Removes trash from trash cans in the hallways, guest rooms and other areas and deposits in the dumpster
  • Shampoos carpets and provides floor care when needed
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of guest hallways, elevators, carpet edges, and stairwells 
  • Complete all checklist items 
  • Maintain communication with team members to ensure assigned tasks/ requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure lost & found items from guest rooms are picked up by a supervisor.
  • Handle guest issues and special requests to best of ability to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Alert a supervisor and/or manager immediately if situation calls for one.
  • Ensure guest preferences are completed as requested.
  • Verify assignments have been completed before the end of the shift
  • Responsible for maintaining hotel equipment ensuring to wash and clean equipment as needed to ensure it is kept in proper working conditions (such as vacuums) 
  • Any other duties assigned by your immediate supervisor (which may include other facets of housekeeping to include room attendant duties, laundry, lobby duties, etc.)
  • Attend required meetings and scheduled training sessions
  • Be extremely courteous to all customers and fellow employees
  • Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping department in hotel or related service industry preferred, but not necessary.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Valencia Group Hospitality operating principles and philosophies.
  • Contributes to team results.
  • Deals with change effectively.
  • Multi-task oriented.
  • Ability to overcome unexpected obstacles through resourceful means.
  • Neat, professional appearance and good personal hygiene.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow safety guidelines.
  • Professional behavior, able to work for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
