Miraval is hiring an Equine Assistant to help provide horse care and ranch facilities maintenance; and support as needed during programming. This could include, but isn’t limited to, feeding horses and caring for horses as requested, cleaning pens, loading/unloading hay and feed; supporting facilitators with transportation of guests, changing horses as needed during programs, and supporting the physical and emotional well-being of the horses.
We work closely as a team to provide a unique and welcoming environment, and to support our equine and human colleagues, as well as our guests. This includes, but is not limited to, awareness of the energy we bring to all interactions with the horses and how this affects them; and a willingness to be self-reflective with a spirit of continual personal and professional growth.
The day to day for the Equine Assistant includes, but isn’t limited to, assisting facilitators as needed in their role to provide high quality equine programming; the usual horse care duties such as feeding, grooming health and welfare checks, and maintenance of the barns, pastures, and grounds.
We strive to create a happy and safe environment for our horses in the way we care for them, and interact with them. At times this may seem like a departure from some traditional attitudes and methods for working with horses. The ranch staff intentionally creates an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation, and strives to meet the highest standards of professionalism and team work in all we are, and do. This is a fast paced environment; great communication skills, adaptability, and the desire to embrace opportunities/challenges with grounded presence are essential.
We are happy to provide training, and the tools to succeed, for the right person. Some horse experience, and an understanding of the physical demands required to care for them, and their environment, are important.
An interest in personal growth, mindfulness, and an open minded approach to learning and working with others will be helpful for anyone in this role.
