The Gardener’s primary responsibility will be maintaining the numerous potted plants, hanging baskets and annual beds around the lodge and the plaza, including watering, deadheading, pruning and general plant care. The planters and baskets are a visual gem of the spruce peak campus and care and maintenance expectations are high. The gardener will be in contact with guest on a regular basis, working outside in all conditions. The experience of maintaining the flowers/pots can be very rewarding and the applicant should have an interest in plants/flowers. Prior garden experience is preferred but not necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspects and maintains the planters, hanging baskets and annual beds around the property.
  2. Sweeps sidewalks as needed. 
  3. Makes sure all gardens and green areas are clean.
  4. Ensures guest satisfaction by maintaining a clean, safe facility while performing his/her work.
  5. Properly cares for equipment and uses it properly to assist with cost control.
  6. Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information.
  7. Communicates all pertinent information to the Exterior Operations Manager.
  8. Upholds all safety standards Is able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  9. Is able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  10. Is able to stand/walk up to 6-8 hours per day.
  11. Is a team player and interacts with all guests and fellow Associates in a positive and friendly manner.

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Landscaping skills and experience preferred, training will be provided.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management discipline.
  • Operate effectively in stressful situations.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to adapt to changing guest needs.
  • Flexible schedule – some weekends and holidays required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to stand and operate equipment outdoors in all conditions
