The Assistant Spa Manager effectively assists in managing all operational aspects of the spa based on varying business levels.  This would include but not be limited to the following: ensure adequate staffing levels in all areas of the spa (spa concierge, massage therapists, estheticians, nail techs, etc.); oversee and manage Spa Concierge  to include scheduling, on-going product knowledge training, on-going customer service training, hiring, terminating and disciplining; and establish and maintain high level of customer service based on the Spruce Peak guiding principles and culture.

The Assistant Spa manager will work closely with the Director of Spa and Wellness in all areas of spa operations in an effort to provide spa associates with a professional, organized, and efficient spa environment and in turn, provide spa guests with an unsurpassed spa experience.  In addition, works closely with Conference Services and Alpine Concierge to manage and maximize spa services to lodge guests and groups.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have a working understanding of Spruce Peak and Spa culture and vision.
  • Must be able to handle pressure situations with ease.
  • Hires, counsels & provides corrective measures for all Spa Concierge.
  • Trains & supervises all Spa Concierge on sales process & revenue maximization techniques and strategies.
  • Provides on -going training in the areas of product knowledge, customer service, etc.
  • Recommends and coordinates frequency for spa education for Spa Concierge.
  • Responsible for daily scheduling (as well as changes and alterations) of Spa Concierge.
  • Reviews hotel/group forecast to ensure sufficient coverage in all scheduling aspects of the spa.
  • Responsible for ordering and keeping sufficient pars of operating supplies, professional supplies, and retail inventory.
  • Responsible for training Spa Concierge with the coordination and execution of all spa packages.
  • Ensures cleanliness, organization and display of spa front desk, spa retail area, and spa reservation office.
  • Performs associate’s 90 day and annual evaluations on Spa Concierge.
  • Responsible for timeliness of administrative duties, inventory, and evaluations.
  • Executes discussion documentation regarding Spa Concierge
  • Participates in weekly MOD meetings and functions.
  • Attends weekly Resort Leaders meeting.
  • Coordinate monthly Spa Operations meetings.
  • Assists Director of Spa and Wellness with accurate completion of monthly inventory of professional and retail products.
  • Participates with in updating and creating Spa menu based on customer input.
  • Promotes and champions resort culture and guiding principles, leads this process on an ongoing basis.
  • Seeks continued self-development opportunities.
  • Display and model managerial etiquette.
  • Updates daily associate punch edit sheets.
  • Assists and coordinates all immediate staff meetings with Spa Coordinators.
  • Ensures that associates meet all department dress & grooming standards.
  • Assist in ensuring cleanliness of treatment rooms, storage areas and product storage.
  • Assist other areas in supervisory fashion as needed.
  • Assist in the coordination and standardization of all rules and regulations regarding coordinators, massage therapists, nail technicians and estheticians.
  • Provide continual direction and training regarding standards for guest service, treatment rooms and product knowledge.
  • Act as liaison between internal and external departments.
  • Other resposibilities as needed.  

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years prior spa and hospitality experience preferred.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal .
  • Knowledge in POS and booking software a plus
  • Attention to detail.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Understanding of Spa and Sales.
  • Solid judgment and ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Operate effectively in stressful situations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing guest needs.
  • Flexible schdule to include both weekend days and holidays.

Like most other exempt jobs in the hospitality industry, this position requires a flexible schedule, possibly working in other departments, working holidays, weekends, events, and long hours as necessary.
