JOB TITLE: Gorilla Grove Field Staff/Zip Line Staff

DAYS/SHIFT/WEEK:

Position requires nights, weekends and holidays a part of the normal work week.

Additions or changes in days/shifts may be necessary from time-to-time or during high volume times.

Education Requirements

High School graduate or GED is helpful.

WORK EXPERIENCE: (NECESSARY OR HELPFUL FOR THE POSITION)

  • No specific work experience required but climbing knowledge is beneficial.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: (SPECIAL TRAINING/CERTIFICATION FOR THE POSITION)

  • Staff will work towards being ACCT certified for aerial ropes courses and zip lines. Levels depend on hours worked in the field.
  • Must have clear speaking voice.
  • Must have general knowledge of the park.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Field Staff and Zip Line staff is the eyes and ears of the park. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and well-being of all the parks guests as well as provide assistance and guidance where needed. It is the duty of the field staff/Zip line staff to ensure that each guest has an enjoyable and memorable experience. Field Staff/Zip Line Staff must possess friendly disposition multi-tasking skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Field Staff/Zip Line Staff duties include: harnessing guests; delivering safety briefings and gear demonstrations; and observing and counseling guests as they maneuver throughout the park; sending and receiving guests on the Zip Line. Field Staff/Zip Line staff must be able to quickly and competently pick up new skill sets both in training and on the job while maintaining the highest quality of customer service. The Field Staff are also responsible for park grounds and course maintenance.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Employee may be required to perform duties in other closely related job functions and/or departments. For this position, such duties may include: landscape work, trash pick-up, river clean-up, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physically demanding; Field Staff are required to maneuver throughout the course in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Rope work and "rescue" techniques also require average strength and knowledge.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. alone.
  • Must maintain a high level of accuracy and moderate level of accountability for this position.
  • Must be able to read and give directions clearly.
  • Must have a friendly personality for guest interaction.

ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS:

  • Field staff/Zip Line staff has highest potential for accidents and health issues.
  • Potential to fall from course if not properly following policies.
  • Potential to hurt/kill guests if incompetent to policies and procedures.
  • Busy days require multiple assists/rescues which can be physically demanding.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to extreme heat/cold, other weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform rescues, and maneuver throughout the course with ease.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Most of the time is spent outdoors in the park.
  • Position maintains high work proximity and moderate degree of work direction/progress reporting with relation to supervisor.
  • Exposure to all weather elements
  • Exposure to sun/cold for extended periods of time.
  • Serious errors or misjudgment can cause serious injury or death to self/guests.
  • High stress at times but rewarding in the end.
  • Exposure to a variety of guests; age, race, religion, education, etc.
