Responsible for creating a welcoming first impression of Kalahari Resorts. Required to ensure social distancing and mask policies are being followed. Also responsible for providing current information about the resort, local area, attractions and events as well as greeting guests, assisting with questions.
Education Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent and/or at least one year of progressive experience in a hotel, resort or customer service related field.
License/Permits Required Valid driver’s license.
REQUIRED SKILL: Computer experience required. Must have extensive knowledge of the area and be able to give directions clearly.
Knowledge of Computer Hardware or Software Must be proficient in Windows software, and copy, fax, and telephone equipment.
Previous Experience Required Customer service background preferred.
Physical Requirements: Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Ability to stand during entire shift. Light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Mental Requirements Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by Associates, Supervisors, Department Heads, Senior Management, and guests. Must be able to work well in stressful, high pressure situations. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Essential Duties & FunctionsApproach all encounters with guests and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Kalahari Resort standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the resort. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform, nametag, Promise button, when working. Comply at all times with Kalahari Resort standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient resort operations. Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times. Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow associates. Provide information and assist guests concerning restaurants, theater/musical productions, airlines, automobile rentals, transportation directions, office services, beauty/barber establishments, and other appropriate services, and render reservations for such. When appropriate, make it a priority to recommend in-house services first before sending them to outside vendors for the same service. Maintain current listing of local and area attractions, special events, and activities. Maintain a listing of local transportation guides, churches, sports arenas, etc. Provide hours of operations for all restaurants, lounges and shops within the resort. Provide information, maps and directions as required. Be familiar with all in-house groups and activities. Maintain lobby reader boards. Maintain all property brochure racks, order and restock when necessary. Knowledge of all emergency procedures and the ability to assist and/or respond accordingly. Provide personalized phone calls to VIP’s and other designated guests welcoming them to the resort. Communicate all daily functions and their location in the hotel in order to assist and direct guests. Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow associates and other departments within the resort. Have knowledge of and assist in all emergency procedures as required. Assist the front desk when needed. Assist guests with retrieval of packages. Provide gift certificates for purchase. Assist in filling guest orders for special occasions. Maintain in-room TV channel listings. Show guest rooms, suites, and tours of the resort when appropriate. Oversee cleanliness of lobby and entrance areas. Maintain a clean work area. Attend meetings/training as required by management. Perform other duties as requested by management.
