The Engineer is responsible primarily for maintaining a high degree of maintenance services to the hotel and its guests. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to responding to all guest requests and ensuring that all major equipment is operating properly at all times. This person must have at least one year of mechanical experience and exceptional communication skills. This is a fast paced position that will involve heavy lifting and excessive standing and walking.
Located in Charlottesville’s historic downtown, the Quirk Hotel is the first boutique art hotel to beautifully interweave chic with vintage. The concept for the Quirk Hotel stemmed from the desire to use art and history as central design elements to spark curiosity and conversation to draw guests into the present moment.
This vision was realized by building a main hotel around two historic homes dating back to the 18th century. Styled in minimalist contemporary design, the main hotel boasts an eclectic mix of indoor/outdoor spaces perfect for life celebrations and business gatherings. Two restaurants appease the palate while communal hubs like the rooftop bar and lounge, art gallery and outdoor lawn bring locals and guests together for impromptu mingling. While the Quirk’s amenities are on point, the hotel’s signature touch is the guestroom headboards designed by Kiki Slaughter and original works of art from renowned artists like Elizabeth Graeber, Ryan Trott, Molly Evans, Pallavi Sen and Emily Herr that adorn the hotel’s pristine grounds.
In juxtaposition to the modern art inside the Quirk, the two historic homes that stand adjacent to the main hotel are art relics of Charlottesville’s years past. Today, the house at 501 West Main St offers a quaint coffee shop on the ground level, while the upstairs will be home to Charlottesville’s most expansive whiskey bar, featuring private reserve and locally distilled whiskies. The house at 503 Main Street features Laurie Nicole’s upscale hair and color salon on the main floor and the upstairs has been repurposed into a private room and suite.
