Security Officer

Responsible for the safety of guests and hosts.  Maintain hotel’s assets. Serve as hotel host liaison between management and guests, as well as assisting in the coordination of all aspects of the hotel’s safety and security programs.


To maximize the safety and security of guest’s, host and maintain the hotel’s assets through pro-active hospitality. Shift leads will be personally responsible for activities during their shift, making certain all guest needs are met with the highest level of quality service.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Security Leader with safety and security procedures.
  1. Be a leader in creating a positive guest experience and over all guest satisfaction.  Be the Driving force in the Art of Hosting by holding stand up meetings with security host going over the theme of the week and move of the day.
  1. Coordinate and communicate information from the Security Leader and other supervisors with the Safety Services staff.
  1. Facilitate host empowerment to ensure the highest possible level of guest service is delivered consistently.
  1. Develop the Security staff through training and example.
  1. Ensure correct and orderly flow of activities from shift to shift with a working knowledge of all shifts.
  1. Monitor all shift activity reports and desk logs ascertaining that all pertinent information is included.
  1. Review all Security reports for content, accuracy, spelling and proper grammar. Ensure that the reports are delivered on a daily basis to upper management and the Director of Security.
  1. Effectively counsel and review performance of Security host.
  1. Make recommendations to the Security Leader regarding safety/security related matters.
  1. Follow up with any guest making an incident report, in a timely manner.
  1. Maintain working relationship with hotel insurance company, being familiar with faxing procedures and guest claims.
  1. Be thoroughly familiar with computer systems required for necessary documentation of various department functions.
  1. Assist the Security Leaders in any areas deemed applicable.

Be thoroughly familiar with hotel’s fire, emergency & disaster procedures.

Recognize, monitor and report safety and physical hazards. Maintain follow up on reported hazards.

Monitor energy conservation controls and implement corrective action when necessary.

Maintain effective communication with all hotel managers and host.

Establish and maintain an effective on-going department training program.

Effectively handle any safety/security related situations which may a raise on each shift, keeping the best interest of the hotel in mind.

Ensure that all Security host perform in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.  Also ensure that all hosts are always prepared and ready for their shift.  All hosts must have their Art of Hosting Card name take and are properly groomed to standard at all times.

Maintain each shift in a pro-active way, not a re-active way to minimize security incidents, guest and cast member accidents.

Make periodic patrols of the property.

Ensure that Security officers maintain a high visibility profile throughout the property.

Perform and other reasonable duties requested by the Security/Leader.

Be knowledgeable of the host handbook and its content.

Minimum Requirements:


High School diploma with one year of college or equivalent.


A minimum of 2 years hotel security (or related experience), or 3 or more years in retail security with customer contact. Minimum 2 years of previous supervisory experience.


Good oral and written communication skills.

Possess organizational skills and the ability to make decisions on a timely basis.

Must have the initiative and drive to maintain the standards set by the Security Department and the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort and Spa.

Must possess a positive attitude and professional mature demeanor.

Working knowledge of the state criminal code.

Good physical and mental health.

Maintain the flexibility to work as a department leader.

Results oriented, strong focus on performance goals.

Broad in vision and embraces new concepts, ideas and change.
