In this role, you will oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair of interior and exterior of buildings. This will be accomplished by scheduling employees to ensure proper coverage and communicating and enforcing policies and procedures of the hotel. You will be responsible for training employees on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal state and local laws and safety regulations. Ensuring the execution and achievement of the hotel's preventive maintenance program goals. Develop, implement and manage emergency programs, programs for the operations & maintenance of all equipment and physical structures and landscaping in compliance with corporate/ franchise standards, local, state & national codes and regulations to protect the assets, guests and employees, to ensure optimum operations, minimize expenses and maximize customer satisfaction.
Requirements include basic reading, writing and math skills with some laundry experience preferred. You may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. This job requires ability to perform the following: regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently standing up and moving about the work area, frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility, frequently bending, stooping and kneeling, frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment. Position is responsible for the short and long term planning and day-to-day operations of the engineering division. Recommends the area's budget and capital expenditures & manages expenses within approved budget constraints. Participates in total resort mgmt. as a member of the resort's Executive Committee.
1.Supervise the Human Resources in the division to attract, retain and motivate the staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate. (35%)
2.Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division's budget capital expenditure plan, forecasts and objectives consistent with maintaining a first class property and management's expectations. (20%)
3.Develop, implement and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the hotel, the grounds and all of the equipment in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to ensure the safety, convenience and satisfaction of all guests, managers and employees to protect the assets and maintain the property in first class condition. Oversees the work order system SP2 and ensures assigned work orders are completed timely. (20%)
4.Develop, implement & direct all Emergency Programs; ensure all equipment is maintained, conduct inspections & drills, ensure compliance with all codes and regulations, train all employees and maintain accurate records to ensure a safe environment which protects the assets, guests and employees. (10%)
5.Develop, implement and manage an energy conservation program for property to minimize expenses. (7.5%)
6.Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed for minimal cost. (5%)
1.Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as requested. (2.5%)
High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
Five years of experience in general building maintenance, construction and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hotel experience preferred.Experience required by position is from four to five years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s)Skills and Abilities:Requires advanced knowledge of Building Management/Engineering. May require considerable working knowledge of other major areas in the hotel and the skill to integrate and communicate that information.Requires analyzing activities and/or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions. Requires management skills. Ability to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.

Hours Required:Forty to fifty hours over a five day period. Additional hours or extra day of the week may be occasionally required depending on the resort's needs.
Any building trade license/certificates from the state of employment
Two years apprenticeship in stationary engineer’s program; or two years’ experience as maintenance stationary engineer
Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish
