About This Job

Come be a part of the opening team of this brand new RV Resort and Campground! The General Manager (GM) leads the staff as coach and trainer in the proper execution of Front Desk, Housekeeping, F&B/Events, Laundry, Maintenance, and Service standards. This includes overseeing the quality process and inspiring hotel associates to consistently deliver the best product quality and service by physically touring and visually inspecting the property on a daily basis. The General Manager will hire team members, manage performance, communicate feedback, administer discipline, and train the team in successful performance of their respective area(s). The GM creates and maintains a customer experience-driven operation with a customer-keeping vision by providing effective guest service and establishing a welcoming atmosphere. The GM is expected to be highly focused on consistently delivering both product quality and service in accordance with hotel’s profitability goals to ensure financial success. 

Job Description:

  • Maintains a weekly schedule that will share the daily coverage of (MOD) Manager on Duty responsibilities, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Supports all departments in daily operations, communicating with each manager to determine needs and allocating time accordingly
  • Establishes and monitors polices/guidelines in the daily operations to ensure profitability, excellent guest service, and consistency.
  • Responds to and reports emergencies by: adhering to the Hotel Emergency Plan and current corporate risk management and safety guidelines; contacting appropriate resort key contacts; accurately completing an incident report immediately following all emergencies, accidents,  or incidents; debriefing with the property manager; coordinating  the timely completion and submission of incident reports; and distributing completed incident reports to the appropriate parties.
  • Monitors property guest survey and review scores, recognizes trends and implements a plan of action to improve
  • Sets ambitious, but achievable goals for the property and clearly communicates actionable items to department heads
  • Handles guest complaints and contentious issues and provides prompt resolution
  • Participate in community affairs and maintain positive public image for Highway West Vacations and property
  • Meet with and tour potential and current clients to promote property
  • Processes semi-monthly payroll including sick/vacation/volunteer/etc. time requests
  • Monitors employee daily punches and ensures compliance with state labor laws and HWV policies regarding breaks, hours worked, overtime etc.
  • Develops a positive working relationship with all property team members.
  • Resolves interpersonal disputes between property employees
  • Develops and curates a property culture, with a focus on sincere customer service.
  • Ensures orientation, training, and on-boarding of new team members is thorough and completed in a timely fashion, according to company training standards.
  • Assists department managers with constructive coaching and counseling, plans individual managers meetings, including the timely completion of annual reviews.
  • Appropriately handle associate issues in conjunction with Human Resources following Highway West Vacations policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Training skills, must have the ability to assess skill level of employees and modify training as needed.
  • Strong mentoring skills: must have the ability to mentor employees through role modeling, supervision and feedback.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor
  • Proficient computer skills, including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work on feet for extended periods
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Understands and consistently adheres to all Highway West Vacations policies and procedures as outlined in company policy and procedure documents.
  • Understands and consistently adheres to personal job responsibilities, standards of performance, and reporting structure, as outlined in job description and standards of performance documents.


  • Education: Associates Degree Required; Bachelor’s Degree Preferred; Hospitality/ Hotel/ Tourism Management Preferred  
  • Minimum Job-Related Experience: 4 year - 5 years
  • Skills – Writing: Frequently writes lengthy non-standard reports and analysis
  • Skills – Computer: Uses a variety of advanced and basic programs to perform responsibilities including data management and analysis
  • Lift/Carry/Pull/Push up to 20 lbs.
