At Quirk Hotels, we believe our guests select us because of our caring and attentive associates who are focused on providing efficient service and meaningful experiences.  The Gallery Clerk is in constant communication with guests of our Hotel's art gallery and assisting them with information about the art, exhibits, and possible gift shop purchases. This highly visible role gives opportunity for casual conversation and hotel or local recommendations. This role will work approximately 15 hrs/week (additional hours may be available in the future) and weekend availability are a must.

Qualifications

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
  • Refined verbal communication skills.
  • Retail experience preferred 
  • Interest or background in visual/fine arts preferred

Our Hotel

Located in Charlottesville’s historic downtown, the Quirk Hotel is the first boutique art hotel to beautifully interweave chic with vintage. The concept for the Quirk Hotel stemmed from the desire to use art and history as central design elements to spark curiosity and conversation to draw guests into the present moment.

This vision was realized by building a main hotel around two historic homes dating back to the 18th century. Styled in minimalist contemporary design, the main hotel boasts an eclectic mix of indoor/outdoor spaces perfect for life celebrations and business gatherings. Two restaurants appease the palate while communal hubs like the rooftop bar and lounge, art gallery and outdoor lawn bring locals and guests together for impromptu mingling. While the Quirk’s amenities are on point, the hotel’s signature touch is the guestroom headboards designed by Kiki Slaughter and original works of art from renowned artists like Elizabeth Graeber, Ryan Trott, Molly Evans, Pallavi Sen and Emily Herr that adorn the hotel’s pristine grounds.

In juxtaposition to the modern art inside the Quirk, the two historic homes that stand adjacent to the main hotel are art relics of Charlottesville’s years past. Today, the house at 501 West Main St offers a quaint coffee shop on the ground level, while the upstairs will be home to Charlottesville’s most expansive whiskey bar, featuring private reserve and locally distilled whiskies. The house at 503 Main Street features Laurie Nicole’s upscale hair and color salon on the main floor and the upstairs has been repurposed into a private room and suite.
