The Angad Arts Hotel, located in the heart of St. Louis’s Grand Center Arts District, is looking for an Director of Catering to lead our catering and events team and carry our mission of “engaging the creative in all people” through to all aspects of catering and events in the hotel.

The Angad Arts Hotel is a revitalized 12-story property offers 146 colorfully inspired guest rooms, including 38 suites.  The nearly 8,000 square feet of meeting space offers two exquisite private event spaces, the city’s most magnificent outdoor rooftop bar and soon to be added signature restaurant on the main floor of the hotel.

As Director of Catering, you will be leading the charge to utilize unique spaces within the hotel to bring the client’s vision to life. Maximizing the art, style and location of the hotel, this individual will solicit and build business while servicing the events from beginning to end showcasing all the Angad has to offer.

In addition, the Director of Catering will engage team members throughout the hotel to help bring the vision to life – curating unique experiences for the guest from arrival through departure. Work hand in hand to ensure initial site visits leave a long lasting impression to secure business and generate ongoing repeat business and referrals.

Your day-to-day

  • Establish and Maintain existing business clientele relationships prior to, during and post conference ensuring service exceeds expectations and encouraging repeat business
  • Negotiate catering business, food and beverage, audio visual equipment, meeting room rental, and hotel services within assigned markets that meets or exceeds hotel revenue goals
  • Identifies and solicits new accounts from telemarketing, appointments, site tours, cold calls, and
  • Conducts tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures
  • Responsible for accuracy of BEOs and communication of changes between client and appropriate disciplines
  • Conduct ongoing competitor price and product analysis to ensure proper rate positioning and product offering relative to competition
  • Conducts weekly and monthly share analysis for measurement of hotels market performance versus competition and implements strategies accordingly in conjunction with the Director of Sales,
  • Actively participate in industry related organizations (MPI, NACE)
  • Develop and implement catering promotions to generate business
  • Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives
Education and Experience:

·        Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business, or Marketing

·        Minimum of 5 years in progressive hotel sales with leadership responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

·        Strong analytical skills relative to impact on hotel revenues

·        Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

·        Strong interpersonal skills

·        Strong understanding of revenue management principles

·        Ability to use revenue management systems to develop pricing and sales recommendations

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, focus on Excel, Word and Outlook Ability to travel as needed

·        Must have flexible work hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
