JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Learning Experience Design is a key member of the user experience team supporting Marriott’s Global Learning & Development programs and platforms serving our diverse audiences of associates and leaders around the world. The role includes designing and maintaining work products that are part of initiatives and broader Learning work. It also includes the development of deliverables within broader user-centered design learning and content initiatives.

This role requires a strong background in user experience design as well as a solid visual design foundation to support digital, graphical and physical design needs coupled with related professional skills, including maintaining technical skills, project management, and stakeholder communications. The role requires selecting and integrating digital content for a broader learning platform and the ability to identify and apply new methods of learning and enhancements of the technologies, methods and trends that shape professional and human development.

This role supports the Director of Learning Experience Design and the broader L+D organization. Strong candidates will have a natural ability to convey complex ideas simply, have broad design experience across media, comfortable working on multiple projects at once, and a desire to deliver new learning experiences.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Design with a focus on user-centered design or related major
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating a pattern of exceptional performance across multiple platforms

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Degree or accreditation in design (industrial, graphic, user experience, service etc.)
  • Prior experience in visual and emotional designed-centered initiatives
  • Prior experience in the product design / development space or in the design and deployment of such tools or platforms with an emphasis on user-centered design

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Supports Learning initiatives and roadmap

  • Demonstrates an understanding of business priorities and creates and deploys deliverables part of larger initiatives with a lens toward user-centered design and professional acumen
  • Provides astute design, communications, branding, interface design, voice and delivery skills to vendors and internal teams
  • Identifies and surfaces forward-looking opportunities to position Global Learning as a differentiator to attract, engage and develop top talent as well as grow revenue

Identifies new content, partnerships & technologies

  • Seeks out new technologies, approaches, partnerships and platforms in support of global learning requirements
  • Partners with additional teams and cohorts as part of the broader organizational work, such as the Digital Solutions, Reporting + Vendor Management, and Development teams
  • Serves as a content expert in design thinking and the 5 step innovation process for the organization and supports enterprise wide initiatives

Supports learning brand, marketing & communications strategy

  • Collaborates with internal and external vendors to create compelling communication devices and events
  • Builds deliverables that align with creative visual design, product and program brand strategy, voice, internal channel management, and digital presence, and collateral communication vehicles
  • Communicates concepts in a clear and persuasive manner

Builds work products that support the L&D user experience

  • Designs deliverables that align broader emotional and aesthetic point-of-view for all major L&D programs, tools, and technologies
  • Builds learning programs and work products within guidelines for immersion, insight-gathering, strategy, design and delivery

Partners with learning project stakeholders and interfaces with end users to gather key information points for learning, developing testing criteria, and iterating on program design as needed
