About This Job

The Project Accountant is a member of the finance and accounting team whose primary responsibilities are addressing accounting for construction projects. The Corporate Project Accountant will report to the Corporate Accounting Manager.

This position is located in uptown Charlotte, NC.

JOB DUTIES

  • Maintain the Fixed Assets sub-ledger records in Great Plains (MS Dynamics GP 2016): additions, disposals/sales, depreciation for Internal books and Tax books for 17 hotels and also several commercial properties
  • Prepare monthly roll-forward schedules reconciling the sub-ledger to the G/L
  • Work with the property controllers and project managers to maintain Construction in Progress (CIP) cost tracking records, reconciled to the G/L
  • Review AIA contracts and identify contractual terms for audit payment application purposes
  • Review/audit invoices ensuring documentation supports the transactions
  • Review and enter all other project related charges-reclassify journal entries
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements in collaboration with Project Managers for outstanding invoices
  • Assist A/P to provide General Contractors with timely payments in collecting lien waivers.
  • Reconcile Construction-in-Process (CIP) and Capital renovation G/L accounts monthly to the project account reports
  • Tracks and analyzes capital proposals, approvals, changes, proposed costs
  • Accounting for all open projects, tracking change orders, direct and indirect costs
  • Process monthly general contractor payment applications
  • Assist with construction loan draw process by preparing documentation package to upload in Box / construction project folder; respond to lenders’ questions
  • Attend project related meetings or conference calls, including special audit/review meetings
  • Processing invoices and payments, tracking and reconciling to general ledger.
  • Ad hoc projects

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting
  • 3+ years of fixed assets and construction project cost tracking experience
  • Proactive communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong Excel and Word experience
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction from manager
  • Familiarity with the construction process, including legal issues and typical contract terms preferred
  • Great Plains, Box, FRX experience preferred
