Job Description:

Responsible for soliciting new catering accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed food and beverage revenue goals. Work Environment: 

  • Interior of hotel in all areas of hotel. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, non-climate controlled Office
  • Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions
  • Traveling is required, including car travel, airline, and all aspects of travel, including overnight accommodations as necessary

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting:  Frequently.  Padded office chair, chair with back for breaks and meal periods. Completing required paperwork, answering emails, various other computer driven tasks.
  • Standing/Walking:  Frequently to attend meeting, meet with staff, meet with clients, walk hotel with clients.
  • Typing
  • Viewing monitors
  • Writing
  • Reading

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee client functions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance. Participate in daily business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other catering sales related meetings as required.
  • Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service.

  • Achieve budgeted revenues and expenses and maximize profitability related to the sales department.
  • Maintain and correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and security of financial assets.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve client requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Any other duties as assigned by an immediate supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written, spoken, and presentation skills.  Additional language ability, a plus.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of the hotel and departments that may impact sales strategies.
  • Must have exceptional mathematical and computer skills.
  • Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends, as needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of progressive experience in full service hotel environment
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus.  High school education and relevant training and experience required. 
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.

Job Requirements

Previous sales experience, Food and Beverage knowledge, detail oriented and highly organized.

The purpose of the Catering & Conference Services Manager is to assist in assuring the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding the company’s expectations for top line revenue.
