Position Summary

Under the direction of the Security Lieutenant, direct and supervise Security Officers involved in monitoring casino property, facilities, and equipment to maintain a safe and secure environment for casino and patrons.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Security Lieutenant. 

Supervises the work of Security Officers as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates and directs the work of Sergeants and Security Guards.
  • Counsels with supervisors/employees and recommends disciplinary action(s).
  • Trains employees regarding work assignments and casino procedures.
  • Assigns Security Officers assignments and locations.
  • Enforces all general and specific security special orders and directives.
  • Provides a safe and secure environment for employees and patrons.
  • Reviews reported violations, conducts investigations and takes appropriate action.
  • Oversees the inspection and monitoring of all security alarm systems, lights, fire and safety units.
  • Assigns Security Officers to patrol outside Casino premises reporting any problems/violations.
  • Assigns Security Officers to provide security for cashiers and other employees transporting cash.
  • Checks and verifies the ages suspected minors.
  • Ensures that patrons/guests meet minimum age and other entry requirements.
  • Ensures that only authorized personnel enters secure areas.
  • Assigns employees to deliver materials and/or escort employees/patrons to private vehicles, busses or other locations on or off casino property.
  • Prepares and approves detailed activity and related departmental reports.
  • Contacts proper authorities in emergencies; i.e., Chief Operating Officer, Chief of Security, General Managers, Sandia Tribal Police, BIA, etc.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

  • Ability to communicate accurate information using a telephone and/or radio.
  • Ability to maintain a courteous and professional attitude.
  • Ability to investigate accidents and prepare incident reports.
  • Ability to operate assigned vehicles.
  • Ability to read/write and prepare detailed activity reports.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Ability to work odd and unusual hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to deal with and communicate effectively with the public and casino staff.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
  • Knowledge of casino rules and regulations desirable.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years Security supervisory experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred:

  1. Two (2) years’ experience in a law enforcement and/or security capacity.
  2. Six (6) months Sandia Resort & Casino Security experience.

Licensing Status

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
  • Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.

Additional Information

Salary: $15.34 – $19.94 hourly
