The Merrill Hotel is looking for qualified applicants for a Full-Time Assistant Food & Beverage Manager.  This is a salaried position reporting Food & Beverage operations.

Our conference center provides service to hotel guests and patrons from around the world.  We are seeking an enthusiastic, diligent, outgoing Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. Supervising staff members in our #1-rated restaurant, Maxwell's as well as events in our IACC-certified conference center, hiring and training plus much more will be part of your everyday running of our busy F&B Division. REQUIRED TRAINING/ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Two years’ experience as a supervisor in a full-service restaurant plus exposure to catering and banquet operations.

Experience supervising Banquets and Catering preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Able to stand for ninety percent of shift

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Command of the English language.  Basic mathematical skills for report/forecast preparation and other calculations.  Solid computer skills.

Able to work long hours and non-traditional schedules


Working with the Food & Beverage Manager, the Banquet Manager and the entire team of Food & Beverage Artists:

  • Helps supervise breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts in the delivery of services, depending on the needs of the restaurant, coordinating with the kitchen.
  • Helps coordinate special restaurant events including on social media.
  • Helps supervise the restaurant bar as needed.
  • Helps coordinate special events within the conference center as needed.
  • Helps hire and train new employees.
  • Assists with staffing and scheduling.
  • Distributes change banks and starts the MICROS system.
  • Closes out employees and reconciles cash at the end of shift.
  • Helps supervise the banquet staff in the delivery of services.
  • Prepares, balances, and deposits daily receipts.
  • Conducts pre-shift and pre-function meetings.
  • Enforces standards and rules for safety, cleanliness, and sanitation.
  • Helps counsel employees and issue disciplinary actions.
  • Handles accidents and resolves customer complaints as needed.
  • Helps control inventories of food and non-food supplies.
  • Accurately produces invoices for each special event and posts accordingly as needed.
  • Enforces standards and rules for safety, cleanliness, and sanitation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The staff member will work in a high traffic/high volume, fast-paced business environment.
