JOB DESCRIPTION – RESTAURANT/BANQUETS SUPERVISOR

REPORTS TO: Restaurant/F&B Outlets General Manager

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years combination Banquets Supervisor, Assistant, Captain and/or Restaurant/Bar Supervisory experience required.

  • Associates degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Culinary Arts or related field preferred, but not required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer/client focus is essential.

  • Must have command of the English language, written and verbal.

  • Basic mathematical skills for report/forecast preparation and other calculations.

  • Must be able to work flexible days and hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Able to perform several tasks simultaneously.

  • Good hearing and vision with or without corrective lenses.

  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds.

  • Basic computer usage skills.

  • Must be focused and organized.

  • Must have a passion and energy for the Hotel/Restaurant Industry.

  • Self-Starter with ability to work independently and as a team.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.

  • Ability to shift and manage multiple priorities.

  • Results driven focus and ability to work through to completion in a timely manner.

  • Adaptable to change.

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  1. Work closely with Executive Chef, Assistant Restaurant Manager, Sales & Catering Manager, etc.

  2. Administrate and supervise the restaurant/bar/banquet operations.

  3. Coordinate the delivery of Banquets and Restaurant FOH services.

  4. Establish standards and enforce rules for cleanliness and sanitation.

  5. Maintain procedures to ensure the security and proper storage of food and beverage products, inventory, and equipment.

  6. Train hourly staff in the department.

  7. Counsel employees and assist with disciplinary actions.

  8. Assist with maintaining records of personnel performance, labor cost, general expenses, sickness, and overtime in the department.

  9. Assist with controlling banquet inventories and costs.

  10. Ensure the security of monies, credit and financial transactions.

  11. Participate in planning and budgeting with Restaurant/F&B Outlets General Manager, etc.

  12. Work closely with staff to minimize waste.

  13. Ability to assist with the setup of the banquet rooms to include but not limited to tables, chairs, decorations, banquet bar, AV, etc.

  14. Ability to carry a tray properly and train others accordingly.

  15. Ensure that all food and beverage equipment and facilities are in proper operational condition and are cleaned on a regular basis.

  16. Promote a positive team environment between departments.

  17. Use sincere hospitality and creativity to solve all customer needs in a prompt and professional manner to exceed customer expectations.

  18. Ensure that all operational functions of the restaurant/bar/banquets are met and executed and SOP’s are being implemented and followed.

  19. Motivate and inspire restaurant/bar/banquet staff and maintain a cohesive team while holding everyone accountable.

  20. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant and hotel operation.

  21. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  22. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other staff members of the organization and hospitality community.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    APPEARANCE AND GROOMING: All artists are required to follow the guidelines set forth by the associate handbook.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other artists of the organization and hospitality community.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and ability to address customer personalities in various business situations.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an artist to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the artist is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands and fingers, to handle and feel objects, tools controls and type; talk with and hear guests. The artist is occasionally required to sit. The artist must occasionally lift and/or move 50+ pounds. The specific vision abilities required are close vision.

compensation: $18.00 plus tips & 2% banquet gratuity
