  • Makes all mixed drinks for the service bar. (17%)
  • Greets bar guests, presents menu, answers questions, makes suggestions regarding drinks, food and service. (12%)
  • Uses pars to prepare mixes, recipes and cutting bar fruit. (2%)
  • Sets up and maintains bar during shift. (12%)
  • Follows recipes and procedures when preparing beverages, mixes and garnishes. (12%)
  • Assists servers. (5%)
  • Cleans and maintains all bar equipment. (5%)
  • Observes guests -- anticipates and responds to requests.   (5%)
  • Communicates with guests - exceeds guest’s expectations. (10%)
  • Keeps bar cleared of empty glasses, trash, plates, etc. -- clean as you go. (12%)
  • Follows all health, safety, company and safety standards. (8%)

Note: Percentages are based on a six-hour shift.


  • Maintains a cheerful demeanor at all times. Understands the value of a smile.
  • Guests greeted, drinks and food served in a timely manner.
  • Receives telephone calls for take-out orders, places orders on POS, picks up order in kitchen.
  • Maintains Cool River product standards; follows recipes and procedures.
  • Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
  • Anticipates guests needs and responds to any problems -- addresses both with an equal sense of urgency.
  • Knows Cool River drinks and food and how they are prepared.
  • Personal appearance to Company standards each day/shift.
  • Supports other front-of- house functions.


  • Understands that focus of job is to exceed guests’ expectations -- finds ways to say “yes” to the guest -- notifies management immediately when there is a guest complaint or a failure to meet a guest’s expectation has occurred and works with management to then exceed the guest’s expectations in resolving the situation.
  • Meets legal age requirement for serving/preparing alcohol - in some areas certification may be required.
  • Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions.
  • Significant movement required throughout the shift.
  • Standing; stooping; twisting upper body, grasping and handling small, heavy objects (plates of food, silverware, trays, etc.)
  • Carrying ice weighing up to 30 pounds from kitchen to dining room several times per shift - as well as carrying cases, kegs or bottles of product weighing in excess of 30 pounds in stocking and managing bar inventory.
  • Move kegs weighing up to 140 pounds with aid of hand truck.


Extreme environmental demands on front-of-house staff are few -- the majority of work takes place indoors in climate-controlled areas. 

The only chemicals involved in these jobs are of the cleaning variety.  Training is given as to the appropriate use of these cleaning agents.

During a typical shift a front-of-house associate will have intense guest contact and be involved in moderately to very stressful and sometimes frustrating situations.  Associates must work well with limited supervision within their specific job functions but must be highly interactive with co-workers to accomplish work -- must be able to be a team player.
