Position Summary

Works with the Child Development Administrator to plan, implement and evaluate/assess the required services from funding sources related to direct services to children and families of the Early Childhood Development Programs.

Supervision Exercised

Supervised by the Early Childhood Administrator.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow the Pueblo of Sandia Early Childhood Development Programs’ Policies and Procedures and Health and Safety Codes.
  • Follow all funding sources mandates for reporting, tracking and training requirements.
  • Assist Child Development Administrator in the monitoring, assessment of services to young children and their families
  • Develop, implement and monitor cycle calendar of events and required deadlines for Early Childhood Development Programs
  • Participate in cross-training events that support the mission and goals of the Department of Education and the Pueblo of Sandia.
  • Maintain all certifications and credentials related to fulfilling role as Early Childhood Coordinator.
  • Work with all staff to coordinate services and integrate the Service Areas of Education, Health, Family & Community Partnerships and Program Design & Management across the Early Childhood Development Programs
  • Follow all Federal, State, Local and Tribal regulations for the safety of children and families and assist the Childhood Development Administrator in the oversight of and compliance with said regulations.
  • Work with parents to educate and support their volunteering in all components of their children’s schooling, to include staffing of parent meetings.
  • Maintain contact and develop yearly MOUs with program partners and identify additional program resources.
  • Work with the LEAs for the provision of special education and related services, to include parent communication, coordination of screening, and participation in individual Education Plans and Individual Family Service Plans for children age 6 weeks to 6 years.
  • Develop and update Parent Handbook on a yearly basis.
  • Coordinate marketing to the residents of Sandia Pueblo regarding CDC services and activities.
  • Assist the Health Center staff with the provision of health-related services and activities for the CDC students.
  • Serve on Sandia Pueblo committees and groups to represent the CDC.
  • Assist the Childhood Development Administrator in the implementation and monitoring of health requirements for children and staff, to include facilitation of Health Services Advisory Committee.
  • Implementation and tracking of all children's files.
  • Assist the Childhood Development Administrator to identify and train staff and parents on safety issues that impact the students at he CDC and assist in correcting identified deficiencies.
  • Monitor staff compliance of safety activities, to include the provision of fire drills, evacuation drills, fully stocked first aid kits, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements related to position
  • Experience in working with young Native American children and families living on reservations
  • Ability to work effectively with community service resources
  • Ability to develop tracking tools and monitor systems that deliver services to young children and their families
  • Effective use of a planning calendar to schedule multiple tasks and goals.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Codes and policies and procedures for children and staff in childcare settings.
  • Knowledge in the coordination of agencies and providers for comprehensive services and activities to children and their families, birth to 6 years of age.
  • Knowledge of special needs services for children birth to 6 years of age.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones for children, birth to 6 years of age.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and tracking of projects and children’s files.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Development or other related degree required.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience working in an early child development setting.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience working with community partners and resources.
  • A valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Licensing Status

Must be able to successfully pass a Background and Character Investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.

Additional Information

Salary: $16.47 – $20.59
