The Beverage Batching (Barback) is responsible for executing the prep and batching for the cocktail program. This includes preparation of syrups, infusions, garnishes, and cocktail batches. This position will work with the beverage manager to write prep lists and compile orders based on business demands. The Batching position is also responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of prep and storage spaces, as well as the upkeep of cocktail draft lines and frozen machines. Batching position will also assist with inventory and checking in requisitions.

Essential Duties / Tasks / Responsibilities:

  1. 70% Batching and prep work
    1. Evaluates current prep inventory and future needs based on par lists
    2. Works with beverage manager to write requisition for items needed to execute prep
    3. Prepares batch recipes as directed, with consistent results
    4. Able to read, understand, and produce in a timely manner
    5. Maintain a neat and organized work area to include adhering to sanitation standards according to state law and health codes.
    6. Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance according to company standards
    7. Maintain a thorough knowledge of beverage menu items
  2. 20% cleaning & equipment maintenance
    1. Regular cleaning of draft cocktail lines according to standard procedure
    2. Regular maintenance of Taylor frozen machines according to standard procedure
    3. Maintenance of clean and organized beverage storage spaces, including liquor room and bar cooler
    4. Other assigned maintenance tasks, planned or un-planned
  3. 10% Inventory and requisition upkeep
    1. Assist beverage manager with monthly inventory
    2. Maintain organization of storage spaces
    3. Check in liquor and produce requisitions to ensure accuracy, report inconsistencies to beverage manager
    4. Stock inventory in designated spaces

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA’s):

1. Ability to prioritize and maintain multiple tasks at a time.

2. Good time management skills.

3. Basic knowledge of spirits

4. Basic knowledge of culinary production and kitchen operations

5. Ability to effectively communicate

6. Proficient in handling knives and culinary tools

7. Basic mathematics for multiplying or dividing recipes



Preferred Qualifications

  1. Food safety certification
  2. BarSmarts certification (company can provide training)
  3. Culinary or bar experience
