POSITION PURPOSE:

Supervise set up of Banquet Room and service of food and/or beverages in a friendly, courteous and professional manner according to Hilton's high standards of quality.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

            Supervise the display of the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the Banquet Manager and guest to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.

            Supervise set up of banquet room as instructed by Banquet Manager or the banquet event order to include linen, service ware and glassware.

            Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.

            Check with guests for overall satisfaction, throughout the function.

            Upon completion of banquet event, supervise the resetting or banquet room's according to specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function. Make sure to get all banquet checks signed.  Supervise all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking banquet shelves with supplies.  Supervise all general cleaning tasks.

            Complete roll call meetings before events to instruct servers on function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.  Check all servers’ uniforms for adherence to policy.

            Supervise all the training and development of banquet employees and give feedback to banquet manager.

SUPPORTIVEFUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Food and Beverage Director based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

OTHER:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including holidays and weekends.

All employees are required to fully comply with the rules and standards set forth by the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa, Olshan Properties, and Hilton Hotels Corporation.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Must have comprehensive knowledge of service standards, guest relations and etiquette.

Knowledge of all appropriate room set-ups, table settings, service ware, glassware, and different types of banquet service, i.e. White glove, Russian, French, and Buffet.

Able to operate various food and beverage equipment present at a function.

Possess basic knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local health and safety regulations including liquor laws.

Possess leadership skills to motivate and develop staff to ensure accomplishment of goals.

Able to positively communicate and instruct team members, offering assistance in areas where they lack knowledge, skills or experience.

Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and to delegate assignments to accomplish tasks, often within strict time limitations.

Able to read, write, hear, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff, being persuasive, clear and to the point.  Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, and management.

Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively work with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and provide positive and proactive solutions.

Possess considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to calculate and create banquet checks.

Skilled in the proper and safe use of all tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products relating to the department. 

Possess basic knowledge of OSHA laws pertaining to chemicals and hazardous substances, workplace safety, and the ability to train subordinates to ensure a safe working environment.

Able to climb stairs.

Able to transport a large tray weighing up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room throughout the shift.

Ability to move throughout the premise and visually inspect conditions requiring bending, stooping, and reaching arms overhead.

Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time often in a high volume high-pressure area.

Ability to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time.  Possess finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.

Ability to grasp and lift up to 75 lbs., waist high.  Ability to push or pull up to 200 lbs.

  • Ability to work under intense conditions that may be hot, wet, loud, and noisy.
  • Ability to use a personal computer.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:

  • Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  High school education preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years banquet service experience required.

Licenses or certificates:

  • Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.

compensation: Hourly Wage plus gratuity split
