Job Summary

Marriott is searching for a Senior Manager of Smart Building Operations to report into the Senior Director of Smart Buildings within the On-Site Digital and Mobile Products organization. The Senior Manager of Smart Building Operations will be responsible to product manage and develop multiple Marriott IoT products within an IoT ecosystem. The scope of the role is to focus operational support, coordination with business partners, user experience, software development, global operations management, customer support, and content management, integration of property amenities, integration with user and loyalty profiles, and integration with other IoT-enabled systems as necessary.

We need an individual that can have a strong forward-looking approach that maximizes the availability of the products to our venues, while maintaining system performance and evolving user experience of Marriott intelligent building features. They will need to coordinate operational tasks, identify technology trends and capabilities that will help reduce our costs to develop, leverage economies of scale across technology types (Chrome OS, Android, others) and deliver efficiencies for servicing an enterprise of global hotels. 

This role will lead Agile software development, with scrum teams supporting multiple systems at their direction. This will allow the senior manager to deliver against the product strategy and support issues for existing customers.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • 7+ years in Digital Product Development and Management.  Must have held senior positions and had P&L responsibilities.
  • Managed budgets over $2 Million. Has the ability to estimate workload, appropriately distribute funds and manage spending.
  • Previous successful people management expertise is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding application development and operating systems and their native capabilities.
  • Technical understanding of content management systems, data call flows, data layers, security, caching, APIs, micro services, SDKs, data networks and data bases (cloud).
  • Has built product/feature roadmaps and managed delivery schedules from concept to commercial launch and beyond.
  • Has strong project management skills and has overseen large cross functional teams (15+)
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate priorities to leadership and cross functional teams. Ensure they get completed in an order that drives the most value for the customer and the company.
  • Ability to see the big picture and break down product delivery into manageable technical implementations while delivering value and moving towards the final goal.
  • Ability to pivot from existing plan to address any unforeseen circumstances and maintain calm within the development team.
  • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum software development practice, and function as an Agile product owner.
  • Triage and support customer issues once escalated. Prioritize which issues to address.
  • Ability to identify new opportunities to drive better customer experiences and/or incremental revenues
  • Excellent communicator, both written and spoken. Must be able to explain product vision, business objective, technical feasibility, define requirements, and technical implementations to fiverse audiences
  • Manage and understand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and make data driven decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and able to get into the technical weeds to come to a solution.
  • Has a Global Mindset, understands that the products and services are used differently across our global customer base and that we must tailor or products to best meet their need while maintaining operational efficiencies.
  • Engineering or computer science backgrounds strongly recommended
  • B.S. Degree required – Math, Engineering or Computer Science
  • MBAs preferred

JOB Description Specifics:

  1. Understand the business customer’s needs and market trends for the services needed by IoT-enabled buildings
  2. Communicate with venue operators and facility vendors to gain insight.
  3. Develop, own and maintain product and feature roadmap
  4. Design and build applications with agile development teams
  5. Develop platforms that support 3rd party capabilities or content
  6. Build features for modular consumption (SDKs, APIs, etc) for Mobile Apps, Web, Chrome OS etc.
  7. Write requirements for backend systems and project manage them to completion.
  8. Coordinate with peers to ensure your products have access to features developed in other areas of On-Site Digital
  9. Hardware approval and hardware vendor management
  10. Establish system specifications, ie. Minimum system requirements to runs our service
  11. Complete QA in test environments. Maintain a test environment.
  12. First Office Application (FOA) for each unique permutation of property systems (we have several)
  13. Global Operations UAT and deployment hand-off.
  14. Customer user guide and version control
  15. Triage and support customer issues once escalated. Prioritize which issues to address.
  16. Release management of software updates. Change control and customer communication briefs.
  17. Sale and adoption of service. Marketing of the capabilities to properties.
  18. Analytics expertise, preferably with Power BI.
  19. KPI definition and tracking.
  20. Prepare dashboards, reports and presentations
