About This Job

The Houseperson works as part of the housekeeping team. The houseperson help keep the hallways, and the rest of the hotels floors and doors clean. Provides assistance and support to the Guest Room Attendants. In addition to responding to guest requests and provide exceptional guest service.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Must clean and maintain assigned guest hallways, elevators/landings, linen closets, ash/trash urns, vending areas and stairwells.
  • Must clean and maintain assigned service landings and locker rooms.
  • Must complete all special projects assigned by floor supervisor and or management.
  • Assist with all guest requests or other delivery needs.
  • Removes soiled linen and trash from GRA carts continuously throughout the day.
  • Motivated, reliable, flexible, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Displays an engaging personality that attracts guests with an always present smile, clear voice, and willingness to initiate conversation without prompting.
  • Providing a warm and sincere greeting and farewell while recognizing guest’s appropriately and by name whenever available.
  • Takes ownership of situations or tasks by fully understanding the issue, asking for help when needed, communicating progress, and delivering results effectively and efficiently.
  • Offer the hotel guest the best possible service in a courteous and hospitable manner, having knowledge of the hotel, hotel staff and services including hours of operation, and guestrooms including locations, views, amenities, knowledge of the surrounding area.
  • Follow the lead of housekeeping supervisor and accept any additional tasks and assignments deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • Six months to one-year previous experience as a houseperson is preferred.
  • Minimum one-year customer service experience preferred with ability to provide courteous friendly and efficient service to all guests every time is required.
  • Must be able to get along well with co-workers and work well as a team.
  • Must always conduct self in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to all departmental and company policies.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills. 
  • Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift.
  • Must be dressed in issued uniform while on the clock.
  • Must present a contemporary professional image in compliance with appearance guidelines, as set in the Team Member Handbook policies and procedures.

Physical Demands

  • Works inside assigned area of the hotel.
  • Must be able to use elevators frequently and work in a high-rise tower.
  • Ability to walk up and downstairs.
  • Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pound cart.
  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise lift objects and/or move up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Tolerate cleaning chemicals and processes.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, eye googles.
