Job Summary

As a key member of the development team, this incumbent will plan, organize, budget and monitor all phases of the hotel construction process in order to maintain efficient production operations while meeting company standards and objectives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the departmental set up, quality assurance, construction standards.
  • Develop and monitor construction budgets and enforce cost controls.
  • Obtain project entitlements and permits that may require meetings with local jurisdictions to negotiate outstanding issues.
  • Interface with hotel brand companies, managers, etc. including negotiation of key construction and development related terms, agreements & requirements.
  • Oversee RFP and contracting process for architects, engineers, contractors, and other project consultants and assist with architectural selection process.
  • Compare consultant proposals and scopes, and formulate recommendations for the development team.
  • Track project schedules and costs monitoring progress and delays to keep projects on time and in budget.
  • Organized facilitation of the design and construction meetings to ensure alignment and coordination of deadlines, goals and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with regulatory and public officials.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with other team leaders specifically but not limited to: CEO, President, CFO, COO, and Creative Director in the strategic planning and growth of the company.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to address large groups of individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple concurrent and complex projects and to work effectively and efficiently under pressure to meet required deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical, innovative problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to establish a close working relationship with the company's ownership and exhibit excellence as a facilitator, mentor and manager as required.
  • Drive for results leadership style; consistent efforts.

    Able to work independently exercising excellent judgment and maturity.

  • Proficient knowledge of construction regulations for federal, state and local levels.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year Construction Management/Engineering /Architect degree or equivalent combination of education and experience-
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction with proven outcomes managing projects of >$60M utilizing a variety of methods including outside owner representative, general contractors, design/build, construction management, and third-party
  • Experience working with local, regional and national firms
  • Advanced experience and understanding of hotel and mixed-use construction means and methods for estimating, accounting, project
  • Experience leading and managing project managers and other related project support
  • Previous experience with multi-site construction
  • Successful candidate must maintain a current, valid driver's license

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of the construction team.
  • Direct supervision of all internal and external production/project managers, general contractors and construction field staff.
  • Direct management and coordination of architects, consultants and other related third parties.

  • This position frequently interacts in person, email, phone, text, cell phone and video conferencing with owners, corporate executives, property level leadership and external vendors.
  • This position maintains direct contact with external vendors on behalf of the company, and may be required to host meetings and/or attend industry related events
