Description

A Credit and Accounting Officer is responsible for managing and administering the credit and collections function for the entire resort in the property's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

What will I be doing?

As a Credit and Accounting Officer, you would be responsible for managing and administering the credit and collections function for the entire resort in the property's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Manage and administer the credit and collections function of the resort to include, but not limited to, the maintenance and control of accounts receivable and collection
  • Extend credit to group and catering clientele according to established standards and criteria, including, but not limited to, background clearance and credit assessment
  • Establish and implement hotel credit and collection policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations and standards
  • Resolve disputes on direct-bill and collection accounts
  • Draft collection letters and address collection for accounts of $25,000 or more
  • Review credit and collection related issues including, but not limited to, Accounts Receivable Aged Trial Balance, high bill accounts, returned checks and credit card charge-backs and bad account write-offs
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
  • Recruit, interview and train team members (as applicable)
  • Supervise the processes related to the credit department and ensure that the departments of Sales and Catering, Front Office and Front Desk comply with the appropriate policies and procedures. 
  • Assume other responsibilities within the Accounting Department that are related to general ledger reconciliations, audits, internal and income audits and others, as necessary.

To be successful in this role the candidates must also demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or in any related field, required
  • 3 years of experience in similar role within the same industry, preferable or in other type of business, or
  • 3 years of experience in an accounting department performing part of the accounting cycle
  • Business acumen: ability to understand hotel operations and how credit processes need to be applied
  • Financial software literacy: use programs like Microsoft Excel or be proficient in learning accounting software  to manage multiple accounts. 
  • Math abilities: must have strong number literacy
  • Communication: Communication skills are vital to properly engage with clients as well as team members
  • Organization: must have excellent organizational skills to make sure all financial record keeping is accurate 
  • Attention to detail: must focus on their work and check all their data entries for accuracy 
  • Multi-tasking abilities: work with multiple clients and processess, simultaneously. They must carefully multi-task to ensure everyone’s records are correct.
