We are looking for a Database Administrator who will be responsible for providing support for production, development and test database systems for our core business software. It will involve collaborating with the Architecture and development teams in the development of database solutions for HGV’s business. It will also include the design of databases, tables, etc.

Position Summary:

This Database Administrator needs to be able to understand the needs of business along with the technical tools to achieve the department’s goals. In general, the SQL database administrator role will consist of implementing and supporting the latest features of SQL Server.

• Develop and apply procedures for regular database backup; inclusive of method and backup frequency.
• Build and maintain database environments that would ensure the highest levels of performance, cost efficiency, and availability.
• Participates in business and technical IT solution implementations, upgrades, improvements, and conversions
• Assist in the design, creation, and maintenance of MS-SQL databases.
• Through regular monitoring and implementation of effective procedure, ensure complete backup and restore capabilities for database systems.
• Maintain database replication and automation tools.
• Proactively identifies areas of degraded service levels, recommends improvements and implements fixes to stabilize and optimize database systems.
• Providing 24x7 on-call support. Works to resolve outages that may occur and performing root cause analysis post outage.
• Proactively seeks out educational opportunities to ensure long term growth for this position. Stay abreast of current and future industry trends in regards to database management technologies and application toolsets.
• Develop and support standards and database design, as well as maintenance, access, auditing and security administration.
• Perform backup and recovery on Database Management Systems (DBMS).

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree/College Diploma
• 7+ years of IT experience
• 4+ years of SQL Server DBA hands-on experience
• 5+ years of SQL Server
• Experience working in a fast paced production environment
• Understanding of storage and security best practices
• Experience with database replication and data integration
• Must have strong (Advanced) trouble shooting abilities in a OLTP environment.
• Required to be on-call for database support on a scheduled basis

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospitality industry experience preferred
• Knowledge of ITIL best practices
• Experience with migrating databases from on-prem to cloud
• Experience managing Hybrid SQL environments
• Extensive experience with SQL 2012\2016\2017\2019, SQL Always on, HA/DR setup, Clustering, Replication (including merge), & table partitioning.
• Experience working with very large database environments
• Experience with T-SQL, SSIS.
