Reporting to the General Manager, the Vice President of Finance serves as the property CFO and most senior financial leader and advisor to the Executive Committee, responsible for the overall financial performance of Palms and Palms Place. The Vice President of Finance drives the performance of the properties by analyzing strengths and weaknesses of operations and preparing accurate forecasts so that management may make informed decisions. The Vice President of Finance also directly oversees the operations of Accounting, Financial Analysis, Compliance, Risk Management, IT, Surveillance, Workforce Planning, and Cage Operations.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Serve on the property Executive Committee to provide leadership, guidance, and strategic support to all Palms and Palms Place departments.
  • Drive and actively lead EBITDA maximization for the property.
  • Lead and direct the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing.
  • Provide strategic guidance around capital expenditures to support the property’s growth and lead in the development of financial models that support operational decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  • Direct oversight over all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes. 
  • Build strong and productive relationships with a multitude of Home Office shared services teams, to support property operations.
  • Lead and direct the oversight of Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Direct the implementation of internal controls ensuring compliance, including developing and maintaining company compliance policies and procedures, including the properties signature authority, and travel and expense policies.
  • Lead process improvement throughout the property to drive efficiencies and create measurable financial returns.
  • Build strong teams and create development plans.
  • Perform other duties and projects, as requested.

Qualifications

  • A minimum 12 years of experience in a finance role for a Casino Resort or similar is required.
  • A minimum 8 years of leadership experience in finance and accounting required.
  • Prior experience as the most senior finance executive for a Casino Resort preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required, advanced degree preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience in public accounting and/or public company accounting as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant, and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
  • Encompasses a very strong foundation of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), budgeting, reporting, and financial audits.
  • Must be proficient at presenting information and responding to questions and/or concerns from Board Members, leadership, Team Members, customers, public groups, and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Strong leadership and people skills required with good motivational and collaboration emphasis; communicates change effectively, overcomes resistance and builds trust with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analytics and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing department goals, action plans and strategic plans in accordance with property and overall company goals.

Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
    • May be exposed to smoke
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Constant contact with Board Members, executives, department management, Team Members, and guests.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing and mobility.
  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
