To assist and support the Property Controller in maintaining control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the Hilton Columbus by providing direct supervision and training to accounting staff members, as well as ensuring that all financial record keeping and reporting functions are accomplished in accordance with company policies, procedures, and requirements.
Preparing and/or reviewing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports in accordance with reporting calendars and ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of these reports. Knowledge of Income Audits and Night Audit procedures.
Hiring, training, evaluating and directing the performance of the Accounting and Night Audit team members. Conducting annual performance reviews.
Supervise the processing of biweekly payroll, verifying input to supporting documentation and coordinating submission to Corporate Office.
Respond to guest inquiries via phone and e-mail; e-mail guest folios as requested.
Responsible for accounting computer systems, file data backup, and organization of files.
Maintaining control over the record keeping function to include:
Reconciliation of general ledger account balances and cash account systems.
Preparation and review of information to be posted to subsidiary and general ledgers.
Coordinating monthly general ledger closing, journal entry preparation, and distribution of statements.
Ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accepted accounting principles, internal policies, and procedures.
Preparation of fiscal budgets and financial forecasts as determined by management.
Assist Director of Hotel Accounting in preparation of all required tax reports including city, county state, and federal.
Supervision over Accounts Payable and Receivable. Conduct a monthly departmental meeting.
Serves as a point of contact for internal operations.
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Property Controller and the General Manager based upon the particular requirements of the Hotel. Maintain compliance of required Hilton training.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team Members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Team Members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Upon employment, all Team Members are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Team Members who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Supervise, train, direct and motivate a staff of 5 or more team members.
Ability to analyze large volume of complex financial transactions from many sources and create reports, forecast projections for Executive Committee.
Knowledge of Nexus Payable Systems.
Ability to apply technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations to practical situations within the hospitality industry.
Understanding of complex computerized financial systems and the ability to utilize systems.
Ability to concentrate in high volume high-pressure area.
Visual ability to read manufacturer’s instructions, correspondence, etc.
Ability to write and speak English, to comprehend and communicate instructions to both the hotel and its clients.
Ability to grasp, lift, and carry or otherwise moves goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs.
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively deal with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and solve guest concerns.
Technical knowledge of industry accepted accounting principles and internal controls.
Ability to work in a 365 day environment and be on call 24 hours. Must work a minimum of 45 hours/ week.
Ability to recognize and anticipate guests’ complaints, develop the most effective solution, and handle guests’ concerns immediately and confidently.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Four year college degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years experience in a position of accounting responsibility preferably with a complex corporate property.
Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates. ; CPR certified preferred
Grooming: All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (Specific standards available in Team Member Handbook).
Other: Additional language ability preferred.
