Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing PMS verifications, reconciliations and audits as well as assisting the Director of Hotel Accounting with assigned projects.  Additionally, the Staff Accountant will manage and maintain weekly ledger balance verifications and oversee the accounts payable duties.  This position is an excellent opportunity to start your accounting career supporting this luxury brand full-service hotel. Essential Functions of the Job                          
General Accounting
  • Assist Director of Hotel Accounting with month-end closing preparation, reconciliation and auditing needs.
  • Prepares and posts all standard and necessary adjustments for journal entries.
  • Preparation of balance sheets and bank reconciliation accounts.
  • Reviews the posting and tracking of sales and use tax payments.
  • Research and prepare the filings of tax payments to city, county and state agencies.
  • Monitors ACH check postings, petty cash and expense reports.
  • Performs PMS, deposit and sales tax/occupancy tax verifications.
  • Prepares income audit of revenue, credit card submissions and hotel statistics.
  • Confirms accuracy and entry of bank deposits and credit cards processed by hotel properties.
  • Reviews and verifies ADP payroll expenses and confirms balances.
  • Performs ledger balance verification for guest, city and advance deposit ledgers.
  • Completes an audit of voids, pay-outs and adjustments.
  • Ensures W-9 forms are completed by vendors.
Accounts Payable
  • Posts web batching verifications, vendor invoices and journal entries in accounting software.
  • Process vendor check runs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues, records and company information.
  • Must adhere to all company policies and procedures as well as the Widewaters Employee Handbook.
  • Assist others as needed and special projects as assigned.
Authority and Supervisory Qualifications:
This position reports to the Director of Hotel Accounting and serves at the discretion of the Chief Accounting Office - WWH or delegate. The position carries out responsibilities in line with the established policies and statutes in consultation with the Director of Hotel Accounting.  Executes authority within the Delegation of Authority.  Responsible for processing, reporting and providing support for accounting related items.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, preferred.  Minimum of 1 years’ experience with accrual-based accounting, balance sheets and bank reconciliations.
