Marriott International is seeking a VP of Creative Agency to lead and continue to build our internal agency team and provide creative leadership across all Marriott International creative communications, created internally or with external partners. The Vice President, Creative Agency oversees the strategy and delivery of key global marketing initiatives across multiple platforms and formats to drive consumer engagement.  Responsibilities include overseeing personalized marketing initiatives across all platforms, brand design and development, social/mobile content, and amplification of existing Marriott International marketing initiatives. 

The ideal candidate can bring a vision on how to optimize internal and external creative resources and conceive creative strategies that meet core company KPIs. The VP Creative should come to the table with a solid background in managing creative teams and know how to create a consumer journey that can engage consumers and turn them into loyal fans. Being a great storyteller and utilizing all of the major digital distribution channels will be key to driving success.

The Vice President Creative will lead a team responsible for creating impactful creative assets that elevate Marriott International’s portfolio of brands and loyalty program. The right candidate will have a strong cultural fluency and be on the pulse of consumer sentiment. The right candidate will also be a motivator, collaborator, a thought leader and have the ability to drive to our teams’ learning and development.

This leader collaborates with the departments within Global Brand and Marketing, with Public Relations, Communications, and Digital to help define both the portfolio and brand story and the story as interpreted by the key consumer segments, with a special emphasis on creativity among next generation travelers.

Candidate Profile

Education And Experience
  • 14+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance including experience in content creation with major brands or content companies;
  • 5+ related experience including “breakthrough” creative wins through exceptional storytelling.
  • Prior track record of development of outstanding creative, with a deep understanding of brand building – ideally around hospitality
  • Extensive experience leading and managing breakthrough design work, and the development and implementation of large and complex creative initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time management skills, and a detail-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Proven ability to manage, train and advance a large team combined with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience forecasting, resourcing and deploying labor resources within a fast-paced, demanding and creative focused environment.
  • Experience managing and defining transformational strategies for business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under difficult conditions, particularly when faced with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Possess deep experience and practical expertise in branding, strategy, execution and visual design, as well as a high competency for managing a large, interdisciplinary team on the most complex of projects. 

Core Work Activities

Creative Strategy
  • Develop strategy, concepts and deliver creative for portfolio-level marketing communications and digital touch points while determining how best to leverage creative talent
  • Overall accountability for creative asset coordination, and delivery across global marketing initiatives
  • Identify internal and external resources to comprise a creative + content capability.
  • Function as a center of excellence to assist marketers in developing creative.
  • Oversees visual identity design projects across all Marriott brands globally
  • Leads strategy and work from initiation to completion
  • Remains current on industry, cultural, and technology trends, and look for opportunities to proactively incorporate them into team's creative concepts


  • Lead the development of the next evolution of the creative agency within Marriott International’s Global Marketing Team
  • Make and execute the necessary decisions to keep moving forward toward achievement of goals.
  • Motivates and inspires passion within creative team to produce innovative, compelling work of the highest standard
  • Lead, coach, and inspire diverse, cross-functional teams to meet goals and timelines.
  • Partner with peer leaders in Global Marketing to integrate for optimal performance.
  • Develop business case where new investments are necessary.
  • Sets clear goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and holds direct report(s) accountable for performance
  • Establishes and maintains complete and up-to-date information to ensure accurate reporting.
