Under the direction of the Audio Visual Manager, the Audio Visual Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the Audio Visual (AV) staff. The incumbent will oversee delegate and may set up, operate, maintain and repair the Audio Visual and lighting equipment. This role also serves as the contact for any audio questions and serves as an expert for identifying possible problems within internal systems and ensuring proper trouble shooting. This individual holds responsibility for both programming as well as operate a digital audio console, lighting console, and video operations as needed, and will be able to quickly adapt or alter audio, lighting and video situations based on events or performer needs. The incumbent will also provide best in class AV services to enhance live Entertainment and Special Events performed throughout Yaamava’ Resort and Casino and other San Manuel properties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Oversee the operations of Audio Visual Team inclusive programming, engineering, operation and rigging of a variety of audiovisual equipment. This equipment includes but is not limited to, recording equipment, digital mixing consoles, lighting consoles, microphones, speakers, projectors, video screens, LED video walls, video switching and PTZ camera operation.  Oversees set-up, rigging, testing and operation of lighting systems including, but not limited to, PC based lighting control software, intelligent lighting systems, moving head fixtures, up lighting, DMX addressing and Grand MA2/MA3 lighting console operation.

2. Interpret artist rider and specifications to adequately prepare for live events.  Assists with set up of live events per schematics and as builds including the construction of staging to include, but not limited to set up, installation, and back line, which consists of drum kits, amplifiers, monitors, percussion, keyboards, drum pads, microphones, etc.

3. Track and maintain inventory of equipment at all times inclusive of the AV/Entertainment asset inventory system.

4. Monitor Video production including video switching PTZ camera operations for live rock and roll shows.

5. Receives quotes on new equipment and supplies as necessary and administer competitive bid process. 

6.   Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs.  Oversees, performs and schedules necessary maintenance and repairs of all equipment and expedite maintenance issues as necessary to appropriate service vendors.

7.  Assist in the creation of department procedures on the usage of AV and lighting equipment.  Instruct and demonstrate usage of the AV and lighting equipment.   Install, troubleshoot and program AV systems throughout the Casino. Rapidly diagnose audio system issues and IT problems and provide alternative solutions if needed to maintain production deadlines. Effectively mix and route audio, using a strong working knowledge of Dante digital audio routing and proficiency in digital mixing consoles.

8. Supervise events and activities in absence of AV Manager at the designated San Manuel properties; including but not limited to providing backup support for Tribal GC/BC meetings and Tribal Government.

9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in related field required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of direct audiovisual experience required including live Rock and Roll audio, RF, IEM, video, video switching, camera operations, lighting, lighting board operator, and/or staging productions.
  • Must be at minimum an A1 level Audio Engineer, worked as an A2 and advanced knowledge with Yamaha CL/PM consoles and Dante.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience with live Rock and Roll style performance audio experience is required;A1- A2/Monitor level Audio Engineer experience is required
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience with live Rock and Roll style performance lighting is required; L1-L2 level lighting programmer is required.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience with live Rock and Roll style performance video production is required; V1-V2 level Video programmer is required
  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
  • Musical touring and electrical experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient in the use of  Yamaha PM/CL series digital consoles.
  • Experience with L-Acoustics line array preferred.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with audio systems including Yamaha CL digital consoles, Dante, Q-sys, Clear-Com and Shure wireless/RF.
  • Must be proficient with Shure wireless workbench and RF frequencies/regulations.
  • Must know DMX addressing 3 pin and/or 5 pin.
  • Must have hands on vast knowledge of lighting systems, video distribution, digital equipment and audio integration systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with video systems, including  Blackmagic, Panasonic and Sony
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have manual dexterity, technical acumen. An excellent ear for sound quality is required.
  • Advanced knowledge configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software, digital consoles, Clear-Com and compressors / limiters.
  • Experience in troubleshooting ethernet networks.
  • Must be proficient in both Mac and PC platforms including Microsoft 365 and related application.
  • Advanced knowledge of lighting software and integration, including Grand MA on PC, Stream Deck, Black magic and resolume.
  • Advanced knowledge of sound software including Smaart V8, Waves Central, Qlab, Resolume, Dante, Yamaha CL/PM editor, Yamaha Stage mix, and logic pro.
  • Advanced knowledge of Clear-Com Helix-net and Freespeak programing and operations
  • Advanced knowledge of audio, visual, lighting and digital equipment is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Resolume video software.
  • Advanced knowledge of LUCI control Software and operations.
  • Troubleshooting skills with sound, video and lighting systems, including Intelligent Lighting and Show Control Systems is required.
  • Ability to learn new technical systems as well as understand, synthesize, and troubleshoot large complex audio systems
  • Ability to read and understand technical materials
  • Ability to solder and terminate audio and power connectors
  • Must possess the ability to set priorities under pressure of deadlines while being a self-started and maintaining the ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Must possess strong leadership and team building skills while being able to work well with others within  a team environment.
  • Must have exceptional customer service.
  • Must be able work effectively with other departments while demonstrating strong communication skills both orally and verbally, via telephone or in-person.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Companys insurance carrier.
  • Professional certification in Audio and Visual technology or related field is required upon time of hire.
  • Certification from OSHA-10 and 30 preferred.
  • Certification in Yamaha PM series consoles, Dante, Q-sys highly recommended.
  • AVIXA-CTS is preferred.
