Description

The Surveillance Manager is responsible for the supervision of surveillance activities to ensure that casino patrons or team members are not engaged in illegal activities. Ensures compliance with gaming laws, regulations, and internal controls in all areas of casino operations and support services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in hiring, retaining, motivating, evaluating, and managing surveillance team members, ensuring team members receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives.
  • Enforce department standards, guidelines, and objectives. 
  • Assist in budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.
  • Ensure a safe and secure atmosphere/environment for guests and team members.
  • Coordinate surveillance investigation efforts with outside law enforcement agencies to assure proper handling of civil violations of patrons or team members; may occasionally appear in court with company attorneys to assist in criminal justice proceedings.
  • Implement and monitor emergency procedures to ensure prompt and safe handling of such emergencies as power outages, fire, flood, or bomb threats.
  • Work with operating departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact-finding and probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and responsive manner, which reflects positively on company and the department.
  • Notify department leaders, and where appropriate applicable gaming regulatory agencies, upon detection of illegal activities.
  • Identify and understand cheating techniques.
  • Address manager requests concerning conduct or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Regular predictable attendance is required.
  • Knowledgeable of and consistently follow Nugget policies and procedures as well as appropriate local, state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the Nugget team and guests. 
  • Perform work in a safe manner and maintain a safe environment for team member and guests. 
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions and team member or guest incidents to a member of the management team or Security.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image when performing duties or representing the Nugget and encourage others to do the same.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; college education is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a casino Surveillance department required.  Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Special Skills

Prior knowledge and experience with Basic Strategy, and a minimum of 1 card counting system.  Investigative and evidence handling techniques is required. 

Language

Effectively communicate with others both verbally and in written form using the English language. Proficient in report writing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, move, push, pull items up to 40 lbs.
  • Fine finger manipulation. 
  • Work environment may include smoke and variable temperature, lighting, and noise levels.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors during special events.

License/Certification

  • Employee Gaming Registration required.
