About This Job

POSITION PURPOSE:

Assist the Area Director of Human Resources in achieving departmental goals and objectives by providing support for recruiting, training, wage/benefits administration, employee relations and team member activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prepare for and conduct new hire orientation; ensure all new hire paperwork is completed correctly by team member and manager and that all legal guidelines are followed; conduct group interactive Hilton and/or Olshan Properties required training classes. Effectively manage and communicate orientation and training calendar; update and maintain training data base; ensure brand training requirements are met and certificates are logged to be in compliance with QA and Internal Audit.

            Assist Olshan Easton Hotels by recruiting, preparing and updating the open positions list to be posted and emailed to recruiting sources; log, track and respond in writing to all applicants; perform initial screening of applications, forward to hiring managers ; attend job fairs as necessary; process new team members including drug testing, background investigation, Social Security verification, etc.

Provide assistance, guidance and counseling to the management staff and line team members in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the hotel staff by listening and interpreting concerns and seeking solutions.  Assist applicants and team members as needed. Assume the duties of the Director of Human Resources in his/her absence.

Monitor the Team Member performance appraisal programs to ensure reviews are timely.  Read and analyze evaluations and goals to ensure appraisal comments are appropriate, PAFs are correct and goals are achievable; assist with Team Member relations programs and activities, such as employee recognition and service award ceremonies, social functions, and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive team member relations climate.

Ensure team members are aware of insurance deadlines and open enrollments;, terminations and changes in benefits plans in ADP and on vendor websites; assist team members regarding insurance, vacation, sick pay, open positions, etc. Process all unemployment compensation claims.

Maintain personnel files, including filing of all documents that pertain to wage increases, team member performance, benefits, training and counseling documentation.

Post memos, informational flyers, etc. in high traffic team member areas, i.e. Cafeteria, time clock, and distribute to the various departments as determined by the Human Resources Director; update bulletin boards as needed.

Assist team members in completing appropriate forms and documents (i.e., GO Hilton travel , direct deposit slips, internal transfer requests, tuition reimbursements, Shoes for Crews

Orders, etc.) 

Assist Human Resource Director in planning and coordinating of team member functions.

Assist with team member incident/ accident reports.

Assist with hotel incident/ accident reports.

OTHER:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Team Members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Upon employment, all Team Members are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.  Team Members who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Human Resources Director based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Possess basic knowledge of EEOC and other applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.

Able to work under strict deadlines.

Able to read, write and speak the English language fluently.

Able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

Able to use both fine motor skills (using computer keyboard, manipulating switches, etc.) and gross motor skills (standing for long periods of time, conducting training sessions).

Able to bend at waist and knees and reach overhead.

Able to grasp and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Able to effectively work with team members and applicants, some of whom require a high level of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate

information.

Able to motivate team members and create an atmosphere conducive to learning.

Able to speak and express ideas in a public forum.

Possess a positive upbeat demeanor.

Possess the ability to remain neutral, even under pressure, in order to gather information and make decisions based on fact, for the benefit of both the hotel and its team members.

Able to concentrate in a high volume / high pressure area often under strict time constraints.

Possess excellent communications skills – written and oral.  Able to communicate thoughts, ideas and actions clearly and in a few words.

Able to prioritize and arrange day-to-day tasks, allotting for constant interruptions, to efficiently complete projects.

Must have solid organizational skills.

Able to climb stairs.

Knowledge of Yardi Payable System.

Ability to work in a 365 day environment and be on call 24 hours. Must work a minimum of 45 hours/ week.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree in hotel management or human resources preferred.

Experience:

Prior human resources experience required

Prior hotel experience preferred.

Hilton OnQ Management preferred.

Licenses or Certificates:

CPR / First Aid certification desired.

Other:

Additional language a plus.
