Location:  Kanab, Utah

Hiring Range:  This position will start at $17.00 hourly.

Working Hours:  8 am - 5 pm.  (Includes 1 hour lunch)

Position Summary: The Angels Rest Caretaker’s purpose is to assist in the maintenance of Angels Rest and Angels Overlook, coordinate and enhance the visitor experience and perform a variety of related tasks.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing daily care of the Angels Rest, Angels Overlook, and Angels Pasture landscapes and memorials.
  • Conduct tours of Angels Rest and Overlook including VIP tours and coordinate Angels Rest volunteers ensuring a positive and safe experience.
  • Assist with placements, memorials, and Blessings as needed
  • Assist with fulfillment of memorial offerings as needed as well as meeting and communicating with the public regarding their orders or general inquiries. 
  • Assist with engraving memorial markers, plaques, and merchandise
  • Demonstrate kindness and the Golden Rule in our everyday actions by practicing inclusion and respect for every person for the value they bring to the table. Be a role model for the spirit of authenticity, kindness and positive influence with each other, our visitors and volunteers as well as to the animals every day. This includes listening, being present, being supportive of others and demonstrating compassion and curiosity in conflict.
  • Maintain a safe workplace, valuing and modeling safe work practices, adhering to organizational safety practices and rules, and communicating about unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a respectful attitude and be emotionally supportive to Best Friends caregivers and the public.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail.  

  • Able to meet, greet and assist visitors and volunteers.    

  • Should have a basic knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials and practices used in landscaping and memorial maintenance. 

  • Must be able to make sound judgments in sensitive situations.

  • Must have basic computer skills (specifically Office 365).  

  • Able to work independently and follow through on projects without direct supervision.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. 

  • Ability to professionally advocate Best Friends’ position on issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to share the lifting of up to 100 pounds.

  • Work is primarily outdoors so must be able to work in all weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to 100 degrees.

  • Physically able to perform strenuous manual labor.

  • Ability to sustain prolonged periods of standing, stooping, reaching and climbing.

  • Manual dexterity, coordination, agility, strength and stamina is important.
