Position Overview: Brand Director - Main Street Hotels

Execute and delivers against the Main Street Hotels’ Brand strategy and vision across all MSH properties. This role oversees marketing strategy and programs, visual identity, content strategy and serves as a Brand liaison to all functional groups within the organization, ensuring that our day-to-day activities and vision align with our positioning and represent our brand values across the portfolio, both internally and externally.

The Brand Director works closely with the Operations team, Hotel General Managers, and Revenue Management to determine revenue goals and expectations. The Director then drives the developed strategy, by communicating internally with the Performance Marketing Manager, Revenue Management, Sales, Catering and Events teams and external vendors/agencies as the “keeper of the brand.” The Brand Director will manage the Performance Marketing Manager and report to the Vice President, Brand & Creative.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

• Together with VP, Brand & Creative and Performance Marketing Manager, develop annual

marketing and campaign plans based on seasonality, month, and segmentation

• Develop annual marketing budget based on property goals

• Ongoing planning for various properties

• Manage onboarding marketing for select new development and hotel takeovers or transitions (e.g.,

brand development, collateral needs, ongoing digital strategy)

• Act as the liaise between internal departments (Project Management, Sales, Revenue Management,

Operations), on-property teams, agencies and vendors, and clients/owners

• Prepare monthly marketing reports and ability to present marketing plans and budgets to clients and

maintain relationship management with operations, owners, and various stakeholders

• Develop relevant and innovative positioning work and keep creative campaign, visual identity and

graphic design direction alive and apparent throughout MSH

• Working with GMs enhance and maintain guest experience programs and branded concepts

• Ensure all hotels are compliant in brand marketing standards, working hand-in-hand with internal

performance marketing and agency partners on external efforts

• Serve as is the liaison between the Performance, Operations, Sales and external agencies (Digital,

Social and PR teams), ensuring all marketing programs, messaging and visuals are compliant with

brand standards

Creative Objectives:

• Development of creative and editorial brand standards

• Develop and supervise execution of visual solutions that convey desired marketing message(s) and

adhere to MSH’s creative and editorial brand standards

• Advise on, and monitor appropriate visual concepts developed by external agencies to ensure that they

are consistent with creative and brand standards and all concepts/templates developed by agency can

be implemented seamlessly

• Perform brand and quality control checks on all deliverables, utilizing creative and brand standards

• Offer visual and production-driven solutions that increase ROI on creative and production (i.e.

increase market differentiation, increase speed to market)

• Work with agencies and creative team to ensure creative strategy achieves business objectives as

defined by the clients and/or the creative brief

• Capture and track metrics needed to measure the effectiveness of creative solutions

Account Management:

With the Performance Marketing Manager develop and utilize workflow processes to ensure quality

delivery of work product and work with GMs on project-level management for:

• Quarterly review of marketing plans and budgets

• Ensuring project deadlines and budgets are adhered to

• Maintain, monitor and report on metrics, including financial and utilization

• Consult with clients (GMs, Sales, F&B, Performance, HR, etc.) on priority of visual messaging in

marketing and communications

• Attend and actively participate in quarterly marketing/planning meetings with properties to build

relationships and help plan initiatives

• Expand and build new relationships within properties, home office, and other partnerships

• Work with clients to develop effective, concise creative briefs with measurable objectives

• Schedule and facilitate quarterly business reviews with owners and key home office leaders

• Troubleshoot relationships and communication challenges between clients and Brand

Management Objectives:

• Contribute to efforts to improve work processes

• Provide solutions that meet changing home office strategies/initiatives and business cycles

• Monitor and incorporate home office feedback from clients and team members for continuous

relationship improvement

• Reinforce learning and continuous improvement via communication and process optimization

• Monitor feedback from all key stakeholders gathered in business review meetings, and informally, for

continuous workflow improvement

• Support home office culture, values and mission

• Contribute to environment that is efficient, professional, proactive, and team oriented

• Understand specialized skills and strengths of each team member and all agency partners

• Mentor and supervise Performance Marketing Manager (development) and conduct performance

reviews

• Champion the needs and expectations of executive and marketing leadership

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, hospitality or a related field

• Minimum of 7-8 years related experience to marketing of brand experience in similar role in related

industries (Hospitality/ Travel/ Retail/Marketing/ PR)

• Experience in client management within a brand/creative/marketing environment with experience in

overseeing brand strategy:

• Setting and managing client expectations

• Communicating and building strong connections with executive leadership and clients

• Championing both clients and creative staff

• Significant knowledge of design and production principles and industry trends

• Experience developing concepts according to brand style guidelines

• Strong communication skills with all levels of home office organization

• Strong organizational and people skills (able to manage both clients and creative resources)

• Evidence of creative concepting and/or pitches of multiple ideas and options that are on strategy

• Knowledge of quality-assurance practices for design and production of communication deliverables

• Ability to direct and mentor others to ensure professional growth and development

• Strong self-starter mentality

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
