The SIT Maintenance Technician Apprentice - Utility works under close and general supervision, learning and performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual work in the construction, maintenance and repair, traffic, flood control, waste-handling, wastewater systems, furniture and other moves, other facility maintenance tasks; and performs related duties as required.
You’ll learn to and operate light equipment including backhoes, forklifts, high lifts, mechanical sweepers, tractor mowers, chippers etc. Use hand and power tools including lutes, tampers, chain saws, jack hammers, concrete saws, weed whackers, air pressure guns, paint mixers and sprayers, and thermoplastic machines. Learn and apply Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); set up signs, cones, and barriers to notify motorists of detours; flag vehicular traffic; and direct pedestrian traffic away from hazardous areas. Learn to and deliver flawless, high quality work product safely and within productive timeframes and meet deadlines. Contribute ideas, suggestions, concerns and otherwise participate and collaborate with the leadership team to continually improve work quality, guest service, operational efficiency, work environment, safety and resort offerings overall.
You’ll receive and carry out oral and written job assignments; lift, carry, and load tools and materials; read maps; and drive vehicles including pick-up, dump, stake-bed, water spray, and flushing trucks, bobtails, paint stripers, and video vans to, from, and at work sites. Complete electronic and written time cards, daily work logs, and equipment maintenance logs. Proactively report deficiencies and need for repair and/or preventive maintenance needs and progress. Respond to declared and localized emergency situations during and outside regular working hours. Attend safety training sessions to learn and review safe work practices; read and review written safety instructions, SDS labels, and training materials; and apply safety knowledge learned to daily work practices. Empty trash and recycling dumpsters. Learn and operate equipment that compresses collected refuse. Keep all resort grounds clear and clean. Clean out drainage ditches and culverts of debris. Remove snow and ice. Take preventive action to mitigate snow and ice buildup.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have the desire to learn and grow in Maintenance Technician Career Track. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Complete flexibility with work schedule; Ability & willingness to immediately report to work in case of a department or resort emergency;available to work a flexible schedule; including swing and graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays.
Must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid Washington State Driver License and obtain a valid forklift certification or acquire one within 60 days of hire. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
