The Role

The Vice President, Deputy General Counsel - Litigation serves as the primary legal advisor to Bally's senior management with respect to all litigation concerning Bally’s and its subsidiaries, including potential or threatened litigation. Incumbent will be responsible for implementing Bally’s overall legal strategy for handling litigation, coordinating with outside counsel, and advising senior management on litigation risks and avoidance.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for coordinating all litigation pending or threatened against Bally’s and its subsidiaries.
• Provides legal guidance for high-level or complex litigation.
• Develops and implements a vision and strategy for risk evaluation and avoidance

• Assists Bally’s legal department with setting a budget for and managing all legal expenditures for outside counsel.
• Participates as a member of Bally’s legal department to set objectives, policies and procedures for managing all litigation; review performance of outside counsel; and provide guidance and recommendations for resolution of all general liability and employment-related disputes.
• Works cross-functionally with teams to mitigate litigation risk and to ensure compliance with litigation and regulatory obligations.
• Advises in-house attorneys and company management on strategy and resolution of cases.
• Collaborates with outside counsel to efficiently manage all aspects of assigned matters, including staffing, litigation strategy, budgets, work product, discovery and developing initiatives for reducing outside counsel spend.
• Coordinates with the SVP and General Counsel on periodic reporting on litigation results, budgets, forecasts, exposure analysis and litigation strategies, as well as evaluating litigation strategies, expenses and reserves with the Company’s independent auditors, risk managers and business unit leaders.
• Other special projects and responsibilities based on the skills and interests of the candidate and needs within the Company.

Qualifications

• An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in civil litigation
• Demonstrated record for success strategizing, handling, and managing complex commercial disputes to successful resolution.
• Experience handling complex civil litigation and employment disputes is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
