Director of Safety & Security - The Fifth Avenue Hotel, A Flâneur Member

Flâneur Hospitality’s flagship property, The Fifth Avenue Hotel, is seeking a Director of Safety & Security to form a part of its leadership team. The Director of Safety & Security oversees safety and security programs, providing a safe and secure environment to guests and associates.

The Director of Safety & Security will have a proven track record of success in security management in a first class luxury standard, a thorough understanding of industry regulations and standards, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Your Focus

  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with luxury hotel standards and consistent with our core values. 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive security plan that includes policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, and hotel assets.
  • Manage and supervise security personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify potential safety & security risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Respond to and investigate incidents, accidents, and security breaches, and take appropriate action to resolve the situation.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to ensure the hotel is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that the hotel’s security and safety systems and equipment are maintained and up-to-date, including fire alarms, cameras, and access control systems.
  • Educate hotel employees on safety & security procedures and protocols, and conduct regular training sessions to keep them informed and prepared.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, and natural disasters, and coordinate the hotel’s emergency response plan.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information related to the hotel and its guests.
  • Practice safe work, habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Chair hotel’s safety committee
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Background

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in safety & security management, preferably in a luxury hotel environment or 5-10 years progressive security/law enforcement background. 
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing safety & security programs.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Experience reporting, investigating and documenting work-related accidents, guest and employee loss in a thorough unbiased manner. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to implement security regulations and standards, as well as local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ability to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
