JOB OVERVIEW:

Ensure that all delivered items meet the approved standards established by the hotel Food & Beverage and Purchasing Departments, as well as in compliance with ServSafe.

Conducts a thorough, but prompt, inspection of every delivery to ascertain proper specification factors to determine acceptability. Responsibilities include receiving packages delivered to the property for hotel-wide operations and guests, logging them in appropriately. Keeps storage areas clean and organized.

Assist all hotel departments as requested/needed. Provides additional support to the Purchasing Manager as requested/needed. Coordinates with Purchasing Manager on any out of stock items that must be ordered for delivery, as well as any new items requested by customers.

REPORTS TO: Food and Beverage Director/Purchasing Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Check shipment by comparing it with Daily Order Sheet and invoice to ensure that what we are receiving what was ordered (quantity, price, quality state, size, count, weight tolerance and acceptable expiration date).
  2. Fill out an error correction when necessary in duplicate to assure proper credit for amount of discrepancy and immediately notify the Purchasing Manager of shortage to arrange for a replacement or credit.
  3. If shipment is correct, time stamp, and sign the driver’s, as well as, hotel’s copy(s) of invoice. Place the hotel stamp on front side of invoice and sign next to “Received By” field.
  4. If shipment is received with delivery slip or memo invoice, follow same procedure and fill out a “goods received without invoice” form (completed after inspection).
  5. Directs the traffic of all incoming items until they have been properly dated, priced, labeled or tagged. The pricing procedure is to be done by the Receiving Agent, out “as purchased”, i.e., per each, per pound, per case.
  6. Labels all incoming bread and bakery deliveries as to outlet or banquet function.
  7. Conduct random spot-checks of all perishable items for proper storing and packaging to guard against quality loss due to over-exposure to storage temperatures, improper rotation, etc.
  8. Assists and directs End of Month (EOM) inventory along with the Purchasing Manager as necessary.
  9. Assists outlets' employees in filling requisitions, transfer sheets, temperature logs, and sanitation maintenance daily.
  10. Completes all tasks promptly and safely, as assigned & instructed by the Purchasing Manager.
  11. Assists the Purchasing Manager with placement of daily, weekly, and monthly orders.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have a Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Always maintains a professional appearance and manner. Can communicate well with guests, vendors, & other associates. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Must have the ability to communicate in English.

Must have an attention to detain and organizational skill set.

Must have moderate to excellent computer skills. Excel, Outlook, Google Chrome.

Hospitality Experience in an F&B setting is preferred.

Must be available for early AM for incoming delivery schedules.

Ability to lift, push, pull 50-100 pounds or more on a regular basis.

Experience with a pallet jack, hand truck are a plus.
