The Winston Salem Marriott Downtown & Benton Convention Center is looking for qualified candidates for its Sales Department Internships. The Sales Internship program offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and first-hand practical experience in many aspects of hotel sales & events. 

The ideal candidate for this position

• Currently enrolled in College or University with a Major in Hospitality & Tourism , Business Management or related major.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• A commitment to 120-hour introductory internship.
• All candidates must pass a criminal and financial background check.

What you will be doing

• Rotate through the sales, catering and events departments of the property to gain an understanding of how each department contributes to the success of the hotel
• Develop skills and leadership under the guidance of the Department Head, Directors and General Manager through hands-on work.
• Learn the operational workings of department by training through the basic job responsibilities in each department.
• Have strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal essential
• Ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast paced environment
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills and be detailed orientated
• Ability to learn various operations systems.

Who you will be working with

• Interaction with the Sales, Catering, Event Managers and Banquet Operation Team. Additional time set up for Director of Sales and Marketing

Benefits

• Our interns are hired as hourly employees. Rate of pay is $14.00 per hour. Travel Benefits throughout the Marriott & Starwood Portfolio. After conclusion of internship a successful candidate will be offered a position within the hotel to continue their employment. 

Schedule

• 12 Week internship committing 10 hours per week to your internship. Daily schedule will vary based on department needs. Will work around class and school commitments.
• Start date is tentatively June 2023. Decision date May 25, 2023. One candidate will be selected to fill this role.
