Description

Located in the heart of Downtown Riverside, the beautiful and iconic Mission Inn Hotel and Spa has an immediate opening for an energetic, outgoing and experienced individual to join our culinary team and fill the position of Prep Cook. In this role, your will be responsible for preparing food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
  • Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards.
  • Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

What is required:

  • Ability to communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to "prep" food products, using standardized food preparation techniques.
  • Skill to use hand tools or machines needed for work. Measure, cut, or otherwise work on

    materials or objects with great precision.

  • Ability to read and follow recipes of items to be prepared.
  • Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a

    clean and sanitary condition in accordance with state, county, and company health regulations

    and work safety regulations.

  • Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding

    temperature in accordance with local food safety standards.

  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to show initiative in job performance including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain food handlers certification
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move items up to 100lbs on a continuous schedule.

For applicants who will be working in California, the anticipated compensation range for the position is $15.50 - $16.00 per hour. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, work location, etc. Crescent Hotels is a multi-state employer and the salary ranges indicated herein may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
