Compensation: $20.00 per hour, Full-Time

Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains hotel heating/ventilation/air conditioning equipment in optimal operating condition by performing routine maintenance.
  • Takes special care to preserve historic finishes.
  • Completes shift checklists early in each shift and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Insures the hotel is supplied with adequate power by reading and operating gas, water, and electrical matters.
  • Is responsible for answering guests and service calls when assigned.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment as assigned.
  • Replaces propane tanks and patio heaters as necessary.
  • Sets up telephone lines and instruments in meeting rooms and elsewhere.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, if trained and qualified.
  • Tests and replaces televisions as necessary.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearing, gears, and other parts of machinery as necessary.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Drills holes and installs mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building.
  • Works with outside contractors as necessary to assist them in performing maintenance or construction jobs.
  • Attends to and/or calls to the attention of supervisor any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating problems of the hotel.
  • Breaks up concrete and digs holes as needed.
  • Works outside in the rain.
  • Performs preventive maintenance throughout all areas of the hotel as needed.
  • Re-lamps light fixtures in accordance with standards set.
  • Climbs ladders to straighten elves, etc.
  • Carries pumps, vacuums, etc. up and down stairs as needed during floods.
  • Contributes to hotel during fire emergencies by participating in hotel fire brigade.
  • Keeps adequate level of supplies required for hotel maintenance and writes up purchase orders as necessary.
  • Checks fire extinguishers and operate them as needed.
  • Handles master keys in accordance with the standards set.
  • Responds to both guest and hotel staff reports of equipment immediately.
  • Maintains and assists in the cleanliness of individual work areas.
  • Adheres to hotel policies and procedures and follows hotel grooming standards.
  • Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
  • Interacts with guests in a friendly, courteous, helpful, positive, and professional manner.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Communicates effectively with guests, customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to work flex schedule, weekends and holidays.
