Full-Time

POSITION PURPOSE:

Directs and ensures the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function, at the Hilton Marco Island Resort and Spa, to include recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory federal and state laws, and the execution of employee relation activities, in order to provide each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service, guest satisfaction  and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide assistance, guidance and counseling to the General Manager, management staff and line employees in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the hotel staff by listening and interpreting concerns and objectives and seeking solutions

Perform administrative duties including: Supervise, coordinate and motivate the activities of the department staff. Prepare annual budget forecasts for the Human Resource department by analyzing and estimating past and future costs using moderately complex mathematical calculations. Monitor safety programs and Worker's Compensation benefits. Maintain all hotel personnel records and Human Resources files ensuring appropriate levels of confidentiality. Compose type and distribute General Human Resources correspondence, such as those announcing policy revisions. Answer telephone and in-person inquiries. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws, as well as, regulations and court rulings which pertain to Human Resources by reviewing current management practices, implementing new procedures, and communicating verbally and in writing any new requirements. Supervise Affirmative Action program.

Control the administration of wages and benefits to ensure the accurate and equitable application of same, analyzing and applying information retrieved from moderately complex reports, manuals and/or computer systems.

Review and appraise all personnel changes and paperwork for merit and accuracy. Approve all required Human Resource forms such as Personnel Authorizations and Employment Requisitions.

Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques using methods such as verbal presentations and written directions to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient employees. Conduct preliminary interviews for all management positions.

Ensure that employees are developed and utilized to their maximum potential by controlling the implementation, administration and monitoring of all training programs. Instruct training classes, analyze and review current and proposed methods, consult with and make recommendations to the management staff for improvement.

Monitor the employee performance appraisal programs to ensure reviews are timely. Read and analyze evaluations and goals to ensure appraisal comments are appropriate, and goals are measurable and achievable. Direct and administer employee relations programs and activities such as employee recognition and service award ceremonies, social functions, and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive employee relations climate.

Organize quarterly team member rally and monthly interns meeting

Develop, implement, and administer policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel to ensure the maintenance of a positive and productive employment environment. Monitor for fair and consistent application.

Organize Blue Energy Committee, attend Safety and other departmental meetings to monitor progress and overall communications to provide feedback to the General Manager.

OTHER:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including holidays and weekends.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the General Manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

o Possess experience and advanced knowledge of security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, budget forecasting and management, quality assurance programs, hotel law, administration of human resource services, i.e. benefits, performance evaluations, training, candidate interviewing, and the development of long-range planning. Have basic knowledge of hotel operations.

o Possess a thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures, as well as, considerable knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters, including A.D.A. and O.S.H.A.

o Possess leadership skills to motivate and develop management and staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.

o Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and to delegate assignments to accomplish tasks, often within strict time limitations.

o Able to apply technical knowledge of federal and state regulations to practical situations with the hospitality industry.

o Able to read, write, hear, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff--being persuasive, clear and to the point. Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, corporate offices, and general manager.

o Possess considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to create and maintain budgets, cost analysis reports, calculate trends in guest and team member opinion reports, etc.

o Able to move throughout premise and visually inspect conditions requiring bending, stooping and reaching arms overhead.

o Able to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively work with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, and provide positive and proactive solutions.

o Able to travel to various sites on and off the hotel property, while maintaining contact with the hotel, to perform essential job duties.

o Able to remain stationary (sitting or standing) and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time often in a high volume high-pressure area.

o Able to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.

o Able to observe employees in the work place, analyze operations and detect situations of concern with regard to areas such as employee performance, grooming, training, policy adherence and morale.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:

o High School graduate or equivalent required.

o Four-year college degree in related field preferred.

Experience:

o Three years combined general Human Resources and supervisory experience.

o Prior hotel experience preferred. Experience with Hilton Hotels preferred.

Licenses or certificates:

o SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification in Human Resources preferred.

o CPR certification required. First Aid training preferred.

Other:

o Additional language ability preferred.

o Hilton Trainer Certified preferred
