The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (the Tribe) provides and supports a leading-edge technology infrastructure to the enterprise in support of ever-changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe’s economic enterprises. The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the success of the IT staff in meeting the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department. The Sr Infrastructure Architect will be responsible to plan, coordinate, architect, and supervise all activities related to planning, build and integration of all networks, server and security solutions as required to meet the business requirements of the enterprise. This is a leadership opportunity responsible for the coordination of IT Infrastructure and Security projects by acting as the central liaison between diverse teams and promoting industry best practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1.   Defines Enterprise IT architecture standards, policies, and procedures, Architecture definition, system structure, logical view, physical view, architectural principles, security, etc. that meets business needs for scalability and performance.  

2.    Analyzes business requirements, assesses implementation alternatives, and formulates overall design approaches. Typically involves in-depth analysis and understanding of infrastructures. 

3.    Coaches and mentors of all IT Teams as this position will be expected to share their skills and expertise along with being a positive example to them.  

4.    Reviews and delegates work to in direct teams, provides technical advice to stakeholders, and provides the infrastructure integration perspective on project requirements. 

5.    Investigates new Enterprise Infrastructure technologies and remains abreast of industry advancements and opportunities. 

6.    Develops, tests, implements, automates, and supports disaster recovery solutions for stable services in accordance with company standards and requirements. 

7.    Works closely with internal/external infrastructure and security teams to implement secure reliable infrastructure to support the business needs. 

8.    Documents infrastructures in ServiceNow to improve service reliability for all IT Teams to have reference documentation for quicker service restoration. 9.    Conveys credibility, trust and confidence to all stakeholders involved by providing leadership with a positive attitude. 

10.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or a closely related field is required. 

  • A minimum of 10 years of direct information technology experience is required; including a minimum of 5 years of building programmable computers, storage, network and security controls via code/configurations and a minimum of 5 years deploying solutions on various Integrated platforms such as Functions, VM, DB’s, Azure, Edge computing leveraging (IaaS, serverless, PaaS and SaaS). 

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above. 

  • Must be an expert in Vmware and automation or comparable enterprise virtualization platform. 

  • Must be familiar with zero trust environments, high security, and segmented security zones. 

  • Strong technical verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify terminology that a non-technical end user and/or senior executive can understand. 

  • Hands on Experience working as a lead architect for an IT professional services firm or similar background in an IT architecture leadership role in a large enterprise. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical professionals, and an understanding of system architecture and software architecture. 

  • Know how to apply consulting techniques (such as issues-based consultant, architecture frameworks and methods) in a range of business/IT solution contexts. 

  • Hands on knowledge or ability with technology implementation across one or more domains: IT infrastructure, Converged & Hyper Converged Infrastructure, Cloud, Storage, Networking (Cloud and Non-Cloud), Enterprise Monitoring, IT Operations and Governance 

  • Hands on Experience working as a lead architect for an IT professional services firm or similar background in an IT architecture leadership role in a large enterprise. 

  • Architecture & design method champion to gather and analyze requirements, design, and implement specific solutions. Expert level understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical design stages 

  • Know how to apply consulting techniques (such as issues-based consultant, architecture frameworks and methods) in a range of business/IT solution contexts. 

  • Cloud storage knowledge of services like S3, Blob storage, Swift, Rubrik, Cohesity etc., a plus 

  • Deep understanding of design best practices for at least one cloud provider. 

  • Competencies and depth in IT strategy, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, and automation 

  • Knowledge of the Casino Gaming industry and Tribal Governments preferred. 


  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.  

  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
