About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

The Banquet Set-up/Houseman exemplifies high dining standards of properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner, presentation, set up, and service. 

Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret and follow with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and follow instruction for service from Banquet Captain and/or Manager
  • Set rooms, buffets, and tables according to BEO specifications and Supervisor instructions. Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
  • Perform all guest contact activities or guest request with a cordial, efficient and professional manner while maintaining a commitment to excellence.
  • Ensure that all storerooms are clean, organized and secured. Assist in equipment inventory as scheduled. Attend staff set- up and technical training on a regular basis.
  • Organize Banquet Hall to ensure a productive, safe and energy conserving work environment. Ensure proper maintenance (cleaning and repair) of all equipment
  • Ensure that all unused rooms are set to department’s standards.
  • Constantly communicate all concerns to Food & Beverage/Banquet Manager
  • Assist the servers during service by responding to their requests; notify supervisor immediately of any difficulties.
  • Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow associates in all departments.
  • Enforce all safety and sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
  •  Communicate with Banquet Captain and/or Manager throughout the function to notify them of changes, special requests, or dietary restrictions to ensure guest satisfaction
  •  Interact in courteous and professional manner with all function guest to ensure exceptional dining experience
  •  Ensure all assigned side-work and pre-work needed for future events is completed before leaving
  •  Participate in the clean up after all functions including; floors, dishes, equipment and supplies have been properly cleaned and stored as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.

Compensation: $14.42 per hour 

Requirements

Education: High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience:  

  • Prefer (6) six months to (1) one year previous serving experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in all facets of banquet operations, convention services setup and a good understanding of AV equipment operations preferred.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Must have manual coordination to grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages.
  • Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs.
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands
  • Must be able to work on weekends and holidays. 
  •  Stand continuously for long periods of time.
  •  Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff, and guests.
