Practice Hospitality is seeking an experienced Food and Beverage Manager to join the team at one of Lodging Magazine’s “management companies to watch,” and operate an expanding portfolio of award-winning, exceptionally designed and concepted, lifestyle hotels and restaurants located in the most exciting markets in the nation.

About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

Assists the Food and Beverage Director with the management, direction and organization of Food & Beverage operations to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, service and marketing to maximize profits through outstanding customer service. The Manager is responsible for standards' establishment, staff training, schedule/resource coordination, workflow inspection, inventory maintenance and equipment supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct the functions of administration and planning of the Food and Beverage Department to meet the daily needs of the operation.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, orientating & training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Plan and administer a training and development program within the department, which will provide well-trained employees at all levels and permit advancement for those persons qualified and interested in career development.
  •  Clearly describe, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various food and beverage sub departments.
  • Ensures staff are scheduled effectively to maximize customer satisfaction and financial objectives are met.
  • Achieves restaurant, outlets, and banquet operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Responsible for ensuring that restaurants, outlets, and banquet events complies with sanitation and safety standards for Guests and employees. Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in working order. Visually inspects and takes corrective action to ensure that facilities in restaurant look appealing and attractive to guests. Provides guidance for improvement and implements Necessary adjustments. Oversees work orders to ensure repairs and maintenance of facility are completed on a timely basis.
  • Manages and monitors product quality and guest satisfaction in restaurants, outlets, and banquet events. Responsible for ensuring that food quality is consistent, appealing, and prepared to guest specifications. Moves throughout facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take corrective action to ensure food quality and service standards are met. Verifies temperatures, judges appearance and taste of products, and checks preparation methods to determine quality. Provides guidance for improvement and implements necessary adjustments. Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on quality of service and food in outlet. Investigates and resolves guest complaints in a timely manner.
  • Ensures balance of registers and daily reporting of financials.
  • Oversee the clean up process of function room and proper breakdown and storage of all equipment.
  • Effectively communicate during the course of the function with the kitchen, service, beverage, conventions services, and engineering staffs, as well as the guest host to ensure timely execution of events, quality service, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.
  • Documents inventory forecast usage and monitors supply so that restaurants are stocked with linen, glassware, silverware, china, condiments and other items necessary to provide appropriate customer service. Oversees set up of dining and service areas.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures that relate to the restaurant, outlets, and banquet events as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and linens, and liquor for functions with approval of the Food & Beverage Director.
  • Ensures all operations conform to regulations of the alcoholic beverages commission. Implement emergency training and procedures to ensure appropriate protection of the hotel, guests, staff, and company assets.
  • May assist the staff in the performance of duties to include cleaning of lobby, turndown service, trash removal, food running, serving, bartending, cash handling, prep, side work, stocking, room set-up and breakdown, etc.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in hotel committees and task force assignments.
  • Perform any other duties as designated.

 Requirements

  • Education:                         
    • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:                      

    • Minimum of 2 years management experience in food & beverage, organizing a team for optimal customer service.
    • Previous bartending training and/or experience; demonstrated knowledge of beer, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.
    • Previous Banquet supervisory experience
  • Skills and Abilities:       

    • Demonstrated experience leading teams to achieve and exceed goals
    • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
    • Prior experience developing and implementing plans to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with appropriate regulations (i.e. – Ergonomics, Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Hazard Communication Plans).
    • Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands including working on nights, weekends, and/or Holidays as needed.
    • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems.
    • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
    • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
    • Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.
