Wheelhouse is a stylish take on a modern pub with industrial design that wins points with the neighbors. (It is in the Design District, after all.) The name comes from the guillotine-style windows with massive wheels that roll up to let the outside in. The spot is ideal for watching sports on one of the many big screens, brunching, or gathering after a nearby gallery opening. Pub classics like pretzels, kielbasas, and burgers are all made in-house and elevated a notch. Lighter offerings—crudité, oysters, and a signature poke bowl—offer something for everyone. Draft beers and craft cocktails make Wheelhouse the spot for a nightcap, too.
Wheelhouse is located in the west end of the Decorative Center on the corner of Hi Line Drive and Oak Lawn Avenue. Across from Sassetta, it shares the covered pavilion known as Center Court, which showcases artist Daniel Arsham’s 18-foot-tall sculpture “Moving Figure”
