The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians provides and supports a leading-edge technology infrastructure for the enterprise in support of ever-changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe’s ventures. The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer I is responsible for creating and implementing tests that are designed to identify issues with software before and after the product launch. Through proper test methodology, the QA Engineer I detect, document, and reports defects in efforts to make the application(s) stable and meet the business objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1.Builds and executes application load testing, performance testing, data and math verification. Performs issue identification tasks, and submits detailed bug, load, math, and performance test-tool issue reports.

2.Installs and executes automation scripts that are embedded with API tests, as well as those that test user scenarios, detecting issues via automation. Enhances feature-rich proprietary test software in TypeScript/JavaScript that provides automatic recovery user scenarios embedded with API testing.

3.Performs stress testing, performance testing, functional testing, system integration testing, smoke testing, regression testing, API and UI testing.

4.Works closely with the Development team to resolve issues found during execution of System Integration Testing cycles.

5.Creates technical test plans and QA technical design overview documents. Provides timely documentation of automation guides for appropriate QA, development, or other business audiences.

6.Ensures consistent and effective communication with the Development, Production Management, and QA teams throughout the testing phase of the assigned product. Takes ownership of the product testing aspects until it is thoroughly tested and submitted.

7.Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience required.

  • Minimum one (1) year of software testing experience is required.  

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

  • High proficiency in computer technology and programming languages such as Python, SQL, JSON and XML., and knowledge is preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows is a must along with extensive experience in software testing.

  • Awareness of current Internet technologies, including IIS, SSL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Ajax, jQuery, AngularIS / REACT, Bootstrap, MS MVC, SOAP, REST.

  • Hands on experience working within IDEs, including Visual Studio, SQL Management Studio, MySQL Workbench.

  • Experience in Selenium, Cyprus, and JMeter automation tools preferred.

  • Experience with creating and running stress tests.

  • Experience with, and/or working knowledge of, change management concepts and processes required.

  • Must possess strong analytical skills and experience with implementation and administration of Software Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit criteria. 

  • Demonstrated experience with systems analysis and/or process improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills required.  Basic knowledge of software development methodologies.  Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.

  • Knowledge of key infrastructure platforms such as VMware, NSX, and Automation.

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating and implementing policy and procedures.  Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle and/or agile development methodologies.

  • Strong technical verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify terminology that a non-technical end user and/or senior executive can understand.  Ability to communicate effectively with technical professionals. Possesses a basic understanding of software architecture.

  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of the Casino/Hospitality industry and related applications preferred.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.

  • A professional certification, such as Certified Software Tester (CSTE), Certified Test Manager (CTM), Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL), Certified Tester Advanced Level (CTAL), Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA), or Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) from the International Institute for Software Testing (IIST), the American Society for Quality (ASQ), the International Software Qualifications Board (ISTQB) is preferred.
