The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (the Tribe) provides and supports a leading edge technology infrastructure to the organization in support of ever changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe’s business enterprises. The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the success of the IT staff to meet the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for assisting management ensuring that the software policies, procedures, and standards are actively enforced. This will include but not be limited to coding standards regarding software libraries, frameworks, APIs, code commenting, architecture, naming conventions, and other software best practices. This role will be actively developing applications for the enterprise and mentoring the junior members of the team. Responsibilities also include actively looking for ways to improve existing applications, improve existing processes, and exploring new technologies to provide recommendations on their use and integration

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Designs, develop, code, install, test, debug, and document programs and applications using appropriate editors, and according to specifications. 

2. Participates in code peer reviews with the rest of the development team to ensure that a high-level of quality is maintained.   

3. Identifies, recommend, and prioritize new software features and applications in conjunction with project managers and stakeholders. 

4. Provides their knowledge and assistance to the team when needed. 

5. Provides technical advice to stakeholders and provides the software development perspective on project requirements. 

6. Helps to plan phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects. 

7. Participate in Agile functions including Daily Scrums, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective. 

8. Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department. 

Education/Experience/Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant degree required. 

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience as a Software Engineer/Developer required. 

  • An equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement. 

  • Must be familiar with one of the following groups of skills: 

  • SwiftUI, UIKit, xCode, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android Studio. 

  • Application, web, and database development, specifically C#, .Net Framework 7+, MSSQL, Web Services, Entity Framework. Also, Azure Services, preferably Azure SQL, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, Notification Hubs, Storage, and Functions.

  • Must be familiar with source control systems, preferably Azure DevOps, Git.  

  • Experience with systems engineering and integration, preferably Windows Server. 

  • Experience with Unity Engine a plus. 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
